STAR TURN

WestLife write about the T2 party and being shy

"...Think of us today. We're all flying home to Ireland for our first day off for two months. Nice one! All five of us are home boys - especially Mark - so we miss our mums. We plan to chill out and enjoy a bit of home cooking. London has such a buzz it blows us away sometimes. It's go, go, go! But in Sligo (where Mark and Shane come from) life moves at a slower pace. You either cycle or walk everywhere....and the place is deserted after 3am!

Anyway, we must give you all the gossip about the T2 launch party. It took place at a really huge photographer's studio in London with wooden floors and a balcony. When the five of us turned up, we didn't really know what to expect: formal or mad? But the whole night was great. We met loads of different people - including the editor, Kitty. She was really nervous because she had to do a speech - there were about 200 people there, so we felt for her. Just relax and be natural was our advice.

We can't talk, though. When we first started going on TV and singing in front of crowds, we were so shy and embarrassed - stringing a sentence together was hard work. But now we've got used to looking at the lens. You've just got to do the biz, though.

The biggest problem about being a pop star is having too get up early in the morning. We need our sleep you see. Mark is the worst. He takes so long to wake up, he sets his alarm an hour before he needs to - and even then we have to drag him out of bed!

Which reminds us. We need to sit down soon and have 'The Chat'. Every two weeks the five of us get together or air our grievances. That's when we all come clean about anyone who has annoyed us - and we sort it out there and then. It should stop us getting sick of each other or falling out. It's for the future, really: a year down the line, we don't want to split up, do we?

OK, that's it for this week. We hope you'll all listen in to the charts tomorrow to see if we make it. Our stomachs are doing somersaults..."
