NOTHING COMPARES TO GRAN'S COOKING

It's simple things in life you enjoy most

Hi Nicky here,

I'VE TRAVELLED the world, stayed in top class hotels and dined out in exclusive restaurants - but I've yet to find anything that can compete with the pleasure I get from my granny's Sunday dinner.

So last Sunday was a very, very special day for me as I boarded an Aer Lingus flight from Amsterdam to Dublin. I was on a rare day off and heading home for my favourite food at Nana McGarry's in Coolock.

All I was dying for on the entire plane trip was my Sunday dinner.., my Nana's is just the best in the world. All my life I've been going to Nana's every Sunday and it's such a great treat.

It had been two months since I was last round there, so I just couldn't wait. And I wasn't disappointed. I had turkey with stuffing. roast potatoes, mushy peas and cabbage and it was just amazing.

People always say it's the simple things in life that you enjoy the most and that is so true. Afterwards, I lay back on the couch and nodded off to sleep. I was jet-lagged after coming back from LA at the week-end.

The next morning I was up early and back on a flight to Europe to do more promotion. We got a break mid-week and are now home, but prior to that we had a hectic time.

After Los Angeles, we returned to Europe and performed at a radio awards concert in Barcelona, along with acts like Aqua and A1.

We performed two songs, Flying Without Wings and Fool Again, and just before we went out they told us that the stage, which was in the middle of the auditorium, was going to rise 23 feet during our performance. We said, 'Whaaa?' But it was brilliant, a great buzz.

Next stop was Holland where we attended the TFM awards and met up with Ronan and his wife Yvonne, who were also guests. Later we stayed up late in the bar chatting with them.

Ronan is thrilled that we are doing so well, after all, he is our co-manager. He was ecstatic that we are going to create an amazing new record by selling TEN SHOWS at the Point.

WE'RE on a week off from last Wednesday and really enjoying doing normal things. Bryan is the only one who decided to use the time to work on some of his songs for our next album. We already have quite a few songs written.

It was Kian's birthday last night and he was planning a get together with family and friends.

But there's also talk of both Kian and Bryan, who had his birthday last week, having a joint bash when we return to Los Angeles. Our American record label, Arista, will be hosting a party, so who knows who might turn up, maybe even Whitney Houston. We'll tell you all about it here in our Westlife column.

FINALLY, this week we were thrilled to pick up another award from Capital Radio in London. We won Best International Act, but couldn't be there, so Ronan picked it up for us. He also won an award himself for Best International Male.

WESTLIFE are the best band in the world. Nicky is my favourite. He is so gorgeous. Bryan is really funny. His impressions are so cool. Please do a concert in Kerry. I love you all so much.
Marie Harmon, Ardfert, Co Kerry

WESTLIFE, I hope you had a good time when you were in Monaghan. I am one of your biggest fans and most of the people in my school love you too. We love all your songs. Keep up the good work.
Aideen Green, Clontibret, Co Monaghan.

I LOVE Westlife and I'm always looking for magazines with posters of you guys. You are all so gorgeous. When I heard that Westlife had five number ones in a row I was so glad. You deserve it.
Sabrina Reid, Borrisoleigh, Co Tipperary.

SHANE, if you read this, I just want to tell you that you are so fine. So are the others, but Shane, I really love you. I listen to your album every morning before I go to school and it gives me such a huge lift. It's the best start to the day.
Linda Duff, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.

I AM a big fan of Westlife and have been trying to get into the Westlife column in the Sunday World, so here I am writing to you. I just want you to know how much I love you.
