Wild 'Life - Shane

TOTP Magazine 2001
thanks very much to Katrina for this article!!!

Are you a lover or a fighter?
Why fight when you can kiss and cuddle? I'm a lover, of course.

A night in front of the telly or a wild night out on the lash?
It would have to be a night on the lash. A good, fun, night out with preferably some lovin' and a nice long lie-in the next day. You can't beat just vegging in front of the TV all day after a big night out.

How raucous is your average rock-star party?
We don't go to that many, but I suppose when we won Record of the Year for the second time - that was quite a raucous night. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun.

Who's your favourite rock chick?
Olivia Newton-John in Grease. What a babe! Absolutely! She's all class. And what an ass! (cue giggles)

What's the wildest thing a lady has ever asked you to do?
This girl once asked me to go for a late walk in Hyde Park. When we got there it was locked so we had to jump the fence then we walked to the Royal Albert Hall. What a devil, hey?!

Faced with trouble, how courageous would you be?
It depends. I wouldn't do a runner, but I'm a good talker so I'd probably just chat until he fell asleep then I'd run!

Given the choice, would you sky dive, bungee jump or play a relaxing round of golf?
Well, we're all big fans of golf so it would have to be a quick round. I played a lot of golf at Christmas with my dad and brothers. It's a great way to chill out.

Who would you lay down your life for?
That's easy! Any of my family cos they're the most important people in the world to me.

Have you ever seen the inside of a police cell or a police car?
Yes, but it was nothing dodgy! Once we were flying out to Tokyo after a show in Dublin and it was so crazy we had to get a police escort to the airport.

When was the last time you really overdid it on a large night out?
New Year's Eve, definitely. Wow! Now that's what you call a night out. Well, as far as I can remember!

If TOTP fancied a wild night out, where would you take us?
We would start off with a good, old-fashioned Irish fry-up at a certain cafe in Sligo! Then we'd head for a few drinks in the MCR Bar, which is one of my favourites, and we'd hang out with all my friends cos that's where they usually go.
