Sitting on a sofa in front of a huge window overlooking the city of Beverly Hills, Nicky Byrne takes a sip from a mug and watches the people passing by. Its been almost 28 years since they conquered America but it seems like it was only yesterday. He could still hear all the fans screaming and calling out their names...
23 years ago...
"Shane!!!...Nicky!!!...Bryan!!!....Kian!!....Mark!!!!...." They were tugging on their shirts and kissing the floor they walked on. It was like a dream, but it was reality. Ever since they stepped foot on the U.S. shore, they never looked back. Number one singles came tumbling out from their platinum awarded albums....each single giving them $999,999 and their albums, all 50 of them, earning them $3,000,000 each.
Their concerts were always sold out and the arenas were bursting with lotsa people...huge and successful artists came to watch them in the balcony---Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, the U.S. president,Whitney Houston...Britney Spears(who met up backstage with Kian and gave him the sweetest"yes". FINALLY!), Christina Aguilera (who, after seeing how great Westlife were, knelt down in front of them and begged for mercy and became their assistant hairdresser's assistant) , Linkin Park( who gave up rock and punk music as soon as they heard Westlife and became pop lovers), BSB and NSYNC ( who gave up their careers juz to be the supporting acts of the lads) and A1(who admitted that WL was better than them) and practically everyone who was someone!
After the concert, people gathered backstage to take a glimpse of the Westlife stars.
Bryan and Kerry were sharing a sweet and lasting kiss as Molly came tugging her mom's dress. She was holding the hands of a little boy weeping quietly and saying something about a lost toy "Oh Dylan!" Kerry pulled away from her dear husband and hugged the boy tightly,"We'll look for your toy, right Daddy?" She asked looking up at Bryan.
"That's right little man." Bryan agreed and swept the boy off his feet and carried him to the dressing room, followed by Molly and Kerry hand in hand.
Shane was talking to somebody on the phone..."That's great! Im so proud of you, honey!" He turned his back and began whisepring sweet-nothings to the person on the other end of the line. Those near him figured out that he was talking to Gillian...but they were wrong. 'Coz at the other end, the voice was saying "da-da!da-da!" It was Shane and Gillian's first daughter Nicole who just spoke her first word! Gillian and Nicole were back in Sligo and wasnt able to make it to the concert. Gillian had to stay at home as she was already in her 3rd month of pregnancy with their second baby.
Kian and Britney were in a corner seriously talking about something. Britney's high pitched giggles echoed off the walls. Suddenly, a scream errupted! Everyone's eyes fell over the two...and what they saw made them smile like mad.
Kian was knelt down on one knee and had a box presented in front of the shocked Britney! "YES!!YES!!!YES!!!" those were the first words that came out of her mouth. With this, Kian got up and gave her kisses of neverending promises
Mark was seriously walking over to the buffet table not minding everyone else. A pout was on his lips and those who saw him thought the same thing : "TYPICAL FEEHILY!" He bent over to pick a fork he dropped when somebody covered his eyes.
"What the ---!" He , being the strong but gentle guy that he is, firmly but gently removed the hands covering his eyes and turned around...only to come face to face with Jayz (that's a girl!), his long time sweetheart!
SHe kissed him softly on the lips and sid," What's the pout for baby?" Mark answered,"I thought you were not gonna be here."
"Well," Jayz replied," I'm here now, so no need for that."
She led him to an empty room and together they spent the rest of the hour talking and just cozying up.
Lastly, there was Nicky. "Arrrggghhh!" he cried out helplessly. Everyone was on their feet. It was seldom that Nicky gave out a distressed cry. All the lads came crowding around him and asking him what was wrong. He just gave out a muffled "leave me alone" and threw his mobile on the floor. He left the room in a dash and was followed b his bestfriend Shane. Kian picked up the mobile and read the text message : SORRY BUT I CANT GO THRU W/THIS N E MOR.I LUV U BT ITS OVER... -gina
"Tsk! tsk!" was all the lads had said.
Nicky came walking down the path and kicked a few pebbles. It was late but he knew he had to go on. He couldnt bear the pain. 20 years! 20 long years and she just broke up with him. "BRrrring brrrnng!" A sound of a bike came closer. He didnt take notice for a while and continued to walk. Closer...closer...closer.... BAM!
Kaycee looked up to find herself dtaring at the handsomest guy she ever saw. His piercing blue eyes held pain...
Nicky lay on top of a woman, not just a woman but a gorgeous woman. Suddenly feeling self conscious, he got up and pulled the girl up as well.
"I'm Sorry," the girl spoke," It was terribly dark and i didn't see you there."
"It's alright, really." Nicky answered. He brushed the dirt from his pants and picked up the bike layting on the side of the road. "It's awfully dangerous here at night.Want me to walk you home?"
"That'd be nice..."Kayce, the girl, answered.
KNOCK!!KNOCK!!!
"Come in!" Nicky's reminiscing of the past came to a stop. As the person entered the room, he murmured," Hey Beautiful.."
He stood up and met the girl in the middle of the room. He held her by the wasit and kissed her for a while, savoring the sweet and soft taste of her lips.
"Mmmm...." The girls uttered," This is nice..." She smiled. "But..." She pulled away.
Nicky raised his eyebrows in protest, still grinning." But what?"
"The lads are here with their families..." Kaycee answered.
"Awww...Tell them to go away. This is our moment!" He complained.
"Well, we'll continue this later okay. Let's go and see them. It's been a while Nix."
"Okay..." Nicky consented and put his arm on her waist giving her one last earth-shaking kiss. "Are you sure?"
"yeah..." Kaycee said not to convincingly. She loved Nciky's kisses and didnt want to stop but...
They pulled away from each other and hjust held each other's hands. Kaycee led the way but befoe opening the door, Nicky said," Dont forget...you said LATER" Kaycee smiled at him and answered," I know..."
Together, they went down to meet their long time friends whom they havent seen for ages. Bryan and Kerry were sitted on the sofa with their daughters(3) and sons(3) closely nearby. Gillian and Shane were talking silently as their children (5 all in all) were busy talking with Kian and Britney's children(7!)! Mark and Jayz were just getting in from the car and were carrying loads of food. Their sons came walking past them and started to arrange the dining table. As soon as everyone saw them Nicky and Kaycee coming down, they stood up and gave each other tight hugs.
After their last concert in the year 2028 attended by all the people in the world and was held somewhere in China were everyone was able to squeeze in, everyone parted ways....Nicky and Kaycee satying in Beverly Hills, Bry and Kez in Dublin, Shay and Gillian in Sligo, Mark and Jayz in the Philippines, and Kian and Britney in Louisiana.
Now, they had their first reunion and everyone felt really fantastic! Louis Walsh called and gave them his regards...he was in the Carribbean Sea with Ronan and was discussing the future of another new band from Ireland again....After hearing this, the lads all exclaimed,"Here we go again!"
But they didnt mind, because for the past thirty years of being in the music scene, they had been the most successful, well-loved and fantastic band who has made over 55 albums, 500 no.1 singles and $1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,0000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000 ,000, 000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 each!
Lastly- as they were watching the news that night, a special was shown on one of the channels entitled-"The WESTLIFE Story 1998-2028" As the first few lines of Swear it Again were played, tears came flowing down the cheeks of Nix, Shane, Bry, Ki, and Mark. 1998-seems like just yesterday....and now....there they were all with families, happily living ever after.
