Kiss The Rain
(by CassieUSA)

“Oh man!” You thought as you looked out the window. It was one gloomy looking day. The sky was dark gray and the rain was about to pour all around the place. You reach for your phone and dial your best friend’s number. “Hey. I’m not going to be able to make it to the movie. It’s gonna rain and my flat mate is using the car.” “Aw!” Your friend answered. “This really sucks!” “Well, maybe you can come over here and watch a movie with me at my house.” You suggest. “I can’t. Sorry! It’s too far across town in this whether. I guess we’ll just have to wait until next weekend to see the movie.” “Okay.” You solemnly agree. “Don’t worry about it! Let’s just hope that the whether’ll be okay next time.” She cheerfully adds. “Ya.” You laugh and hang up the phone. For the next two and a half hours you sit in front of the TV watching nothing but lame soap operas, because nothing else is on. “Ugh!” You growl, but then you feel something very cold and wet brush up against your hand. “Hey Bailey!” You smile as you look down at your precious little Cocker Spaniel wagging his tail madly at you. “You need to go for a walk, don’t you?” His ears perk up at the sound and he runs to the door. “At least I’ll get out of the house.” You think as you step out of your door in a windbreaker and a pair of sneakers.

You step out into the rain and realize that it’s not so bad. You actually rather enjoy it! So, you pull off your windbreaker, tie it around your waist, and start to run around, in the park, with your playful little puppy. You begin to slow down, and are looking up to the sky, trying to catch tiny raindrops in your mouth, when the leash slips out of your hand and Bailey goes running down the street. “BAILEY!” You scream and immediately begin to run after him. He goes down the street and you almost catch him, but he runs under your legs and begins to turn back over to the park. A painful cramp begins to run up your side and you look down to your navy blue Abercrombie and Fitch T-shirt. “Oh no! I’ve really done it now, haven’t I?” You say to yourself, realizing that you had probably just ruined the very nice new shirt that you had just bought yesterday.

Suddenly, realizing you’ve just wasted about two seconds of catching up with Bailey, you begin to run again. You finally see him, stopped in front of someone, who is petting him. “Bailey! Bad dog! No, no! Never do that to me again!” You scold your dog as you grab the leash. “I am so sorry!” You apologize to the man. “He’s just a puppy and still likes to get into mischief.” You try to look at his face, but his baseball cap half covers it. “It’s okay. I like dogs. Always wanted one.” “Really?” “Ya.” “Thank God. Most people think that all girls have to have cats, because they are more feminine than dogs.” The man laughs at your comment and you notice that he has the most gorgeous smile you’ve ever seen. “What’s so funny?” You ask. “Oh, nothing. It’s just that most girls wouldn’t talk about stuff like that to people they hardly even know.” He chuckled. “Oh my gosh! I feel so stupid now!” “No no no! Don’t be. I like that. It shows that you are really friendly.” You smile at his compliment. “Thank you! My name is , what’s yours?” You hold out your hand and he looks at his watch. “Oh, I’m so sorry. I’m late! I hope we bump into each other again!” He adds and leaves you standing there, feeling let down.

You get home, put on your PJs and eat some ice cream. “How can I like him? I don’t even know his name. Yet, there is something about his smile and his voice.” Just then your roommate gets back and you guys stay up talking and having fun eating ice cream. The next day, your roommate jumps up and down on your bed. “What the heck are you doing?” You shrug. You sooo didn’t want to wake up this morning. “Oh, I thought you’d be happy today. Especially considering the fact that your boyfriend is back in town!” “Oh my god!” You suddenly start screaming and giggling. You had been waiting for this day for about three months, thirteen hours and nine minutes, to be exact. “I can’t believe it! He’s back! Thank you sooo much Jess!” “No problem, . We’ve got to eat breakfast fast, though, since his plane arrives in about two hours.” You suddenly realize that since you live forty-five minutes away from the airport and you want to look perfect, you rush to get ready.

“Hey hun!” You scream as you see your incredibly handsome boyfriend walk off the plane. You run quickly over to him and jump in his arms. You stand kissing for a while, until Jess reminds you that she’s there. “Oh! Sorry! Hey Jess!” Your boyfriend greets. “Hey yourself! Come over here and give me a hug, will ya?” She laughs and they hug for a second. “So, Jack how was Singapore?” Jess asks. “It was really cool, accept for the fact that it rained about twenty four seven and there’s a lot of construction that goes on, but other than that, ya. It was good!” You guys drive back home, holding hands, and Jess lets him get settled in the guest room, before heading out to leave you guys on your own. “Be good now, you hear me?” She orders Jack, pointing a finger at him. “No promises.” He shouts back, before she closes the door. You two are sitting on a big couch, his arms are around you, the lights are dim, and you are sipping champagne. “This is the life.” You say as you softly kiss his lips. “You know I love you, don’t you?” “Yes.” You reply. “You know that I’d do anything for you, right?” Jack asks. “Of course I do!” You giggle. “Do you want kids?” “Ya.” You start wondering what’s going on. “Do you love me?” He asks. “Yes.” “Will you marry me?” He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a golden diamond ring. You pause for a second. ‘Should I? What about the guy from yesterday? What if I really love him? Oh you’re just being an idiot, . You love Jack and Jack loves you. Besides, you always knew you wanted to marry him, and you’ll probably never see that guy again.’ After convincing yourself, you smile and nod your head. He slips the ring on to your finger and you kiss and cuddle until the morning.

“Oh my God! ! I can’t believe it!” Jess screams when you tell her the good news. “I know. Isn’t it great?” You two had been staring at the ring for the past half an hour. “Listen, I’m really late. I’ve got to go meet Paul. I’ll see you later, okay?” “Ya. Have fun with your BOYFRIEND.” You tease and she leaves the house. You’re looking through some Westlife magazines, when Bailey starts pawing at your leg. “What?” You ask, irritated. “Oh. I’m sorry Bailey! I completely forgot about your walk. Come here puppy.” You smile and put the leash him. Unlike the other day, it is beautiful outside.

You walk him through the park, until you see a very familiar hat in the distance. You walk up to the person wearing the hat and recognize that he is the same man you had bumped into, with the gorgeous smile that made your heart want to melt. “Hey there! I never thought I’d be seeing you again!” You laugh and he turns around and recognizes you. “Ya. You know, you look a lot different when you aren’t soaked, what’s your name...? Oh ya! .” You find yourself giggling. His voice was so beautiful; it was like music to your ears. ‘Who is this guy?’ You think. ‘Why does he get to me?’ Then, realizing you were being very rude, you reply. “Well thank you. But I can’t exactly say the same about you, seeing as I still haven’t seen your face or heard you name.” “Just call me . And about the whole, not being able to see my face thing, I like to be mysterious.” “I can tell.” Then, asks, “You don’t come from around here, do you?” You smile. “No. I was born in . I lived in in the USA for a while before I came here, too. Ireland is like home, though. It’s so beautiful, when it’s not raining.” He laughs at your joke and it sends shivers up and down your spine. “I have to go, you always seem to catch me right before I have to leave. I guess I’ll see you later then.” “Ya. Sure.” You agree and you go your separate ways.

For the next few days Jack is being very sweet, but you can’t help but wonder if you’ll ever see the guy again. You can’t really think about that, though, considering the fact that you have VIP tickets to meet your favorite group Westlife, and see their new concert on opening night. Looking great in a pair of tight hip-hugger flared jeans, a complementing light blue halter-top, and a white sweater, you head out the door. You arrive at the door, flash your ticket, and a bodyguard shows you over to a room with a big sign on it, reading WESTLIFE.

Nervously, you tug on your clothing and check your make up before entering the room. “Hello?” You ask quietly. “Hey!” The guys all say in unison and Bryan offers you a seat next to him. You notice say something to Mark while looking straight at you, but all the guys seemed to be doing that, too. “Sorry that I’m a little nervous, guys, it’s just that I’ve been a fan of your music ever since I was a little girl, so it’s amazing to be sitting here, talking with you.” “Thanks. What’s your name love?” Shane asks. “Oh! I’m sorry!” You laugh. “Ya. I’m . But ya’ll can call me .” They guys immediately started to crack up. “What?” You ask, bewildered. Then, in unison, the guys all yelled. “YA’LL!” And she joined in cracking up. “Hey, I can’t help it if I have a bit of a southern accent. I’m from the US, you know?” “Sorry love. We have about half an hour with you here, so what do you wanna do?” Nicky asks. “Uh anything’s fine with me, although I have to warn you that I can get a bit carried away if it has to do with truth or dare, or playing pranks. I’m known for being good at them.” You tell them. For some reason you feel completely comfortable around them, like you have been friends for a really long time.

“Well then,” Bryan starts. “Who feels ready for a game of truth or dare?” Everyone agrees and you all sit on the floor of the locked VIP room. You notice that it’s very hot in there, so you take off your sweater, much to the delight of the lads. “Let’s make it interesting, though. Whoever completes a dare gives, must be kissed by her. And if she completes a dare, the one who dared her has to do something interesting.” “Okay.” The guys all chime and you all start the game. Bryan begins the game.

, truth or dare?” You raise an eyebrow and look at him. “Dare.” You answer. “I dare you to go out onto the balcony and say at the top of your lungs, that we turn you on.” You grin. “You guys are gonna have something very interesting asked of you, now.” After you complete the dare, you walk back into the room and the guys are bursting out laughing. “Okay. Now you guys have to do something, like wrestle or something right here.” You order, pointing to the floor right in front of you. “Do you mean regular wrestling, or the kind we do when no ones around. The kind that usually gets us into trouble.” Kian asks. “The one you get in trouble for.” You smile and are surprised at what they are doing. They move the furniture out of the way and you watch as they take off their shirts. Immediately you start wishing you hadn’t done that, though, because they looked incredibly sexy with their shirts off. Especially . You knew he was probably the most built in the whole group, but you didn’t know how much he had been working out. First of all, he was tanned from their recent trip to the USA. Second of all, he had a great six pack and very VERY nice biceps. How could you resist. noticed the lust in your eyes, though, and grinned very sexily, before turning around to wrestle with one of the other guys. You enjoyed the wrestling very much, because it was so funny, and cheered for when he won.

You did something unexpected, though. While they were wrestling, you were playing with your engagement ring and deliberately put it in your pocket. “Okay. We’re done. It’s your turn.” Nicky commented and you decide to take a risk and dare . “, truth or dare?” Wanting a rest, he says. “Truth.” “Damn! I had a good one. Oh well!” You laugh. “Okay. What would you do to get the girl you want.” Then he answers seriously. “I’d probably go up to her, ask her her name, ask her out on a date and take her to someplace nice for dinner. Then, I’d drop her off at her house, give her a kiss goodnight, and leave.” You smile. “Good answer...but BS!” You laugh. “What?” asks. The guys all start laughing. “She means it’s too good to be true.” Shane explains. “Damn right I do.” You laugh and laughs too. You were about to play again, when Shane jumped in. “Hey. Isn’t someone supposed to kiss someone else?” He hinted. So, you lean over towards and kiss, only it wasn’t a normal kiss. This one was unique. It was so soft, yet passion was driving it at the same time. Your mind was a blur and you wanted to stay in the moment forever. Suddenly Louis popped into the room, though and you had to find your seat before the concert started. Everyone got up and the guys were shuffling around to get ready, when gently grabs your arm. “Call me on this number and we can hang out sometime. I’ve never had a friend from America before.” He smiles and heads out the door, leaving you breathless. You go to put it back in your pocket, and your hand bumps your ring. Guiltily you pull it out and put it on, remembering your promise to Jack.

After that fun day at the meeting, you hang out with the guys a lot. especially. You guys found out that you had a lot in common and you become the best of friends. Actually, you and become great friends, too. Soon it had become a ritual for you two to meet in the park to chat every other day at about five o-clock. You were extremely busy between spending time with Jess, , , and Jack that you barely had time for yourself.

You were talking with again, when something magical happened. You both were just having one of your regular conversations, when he leaned in and kissed you. You still couldn’t see his eyes, or nose for that matter, but you didn’t care. He had chosen just the right time. The sky was beginning to turn an orange-pink color as the clouds swiftly rolled by on the soft wind. Children were playing on the playground and the grass was swaying gently in the breeze. At this moment, however, the world seemed to fade away, as if the only two people left were you and . When the kiss ended, you smiled, but in your heart, you knew it wouldn’t. couldn’t last.

One day, you decide to tell about your engagement. “, I can tell you anything right?” You ask. “Ya. Of course you can, .” He answered. “Okay. I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you this sooner, I just didn’t know you very well.” You take your hand out from your pocket and show him the ring. “I’m engaged to Jack Wells. We still haven’t set a date.” ’s jaw drops to the floor. “Aren’t you happy for me. “Course I am...” stutters. “I...it’s just...the ring...” “I know. It’s gorgeous, isn’t it?” “Ya. That’s what I meant.” He faults. “I can’t wait to be married. You and the guys are all invited to the wedding, but I was wondering, if maybe you’d like to be one of the best men.” His heart stops. That is the last thing he wants to do. ‘Great. I’m falling for a girl who’s already taken.’ He thinks, but then he puts on a fake smile, hugs you, and agrees.

It’s the week before the wedding and you are extremely excited. “Okay. I have the dress. Check! The hairstylist. Check! The makeup artist. Check! Musicians. Check! Husband...Where is he anyway?” You ask yourself, half laughing. “He must be at his house looking over bachelor details.” You start, but the phone rings. “Hello?” You answer. “Hey !” starts up. “I was wondering if you would like to come out tonight and hang out with the me and the guys.” You think for a moment. “I’m sorry. I really want to, but I can’t. There’s just too much to take care of for the wedding...?” You ask after a couple of seconds of silence. “Oh ya. It’s okay. Sorry about that. I was just zoning out. I don’t think I’ll be going out either, actually. I’m kind of tired, but if you need any help with planning, I’m at home. See ya!” You say goodbye and hang up the phone.

It’s about 10:30pm and Jack was supposed to come over half an hour ago to help you plan. You start to panic, thinking that something must have happened to him. ‘He couldn’t forget about our wedding. He must be in trouble. Maybe he’s hurt. I have to go see him.” You decide and head out the door. You get over to Jack’s apartment, find the spare key, and open the door. You look around and see no Jack in the living room, kitchen, or dining room, so you head over to the bedroom. You open the door and do not like what you see. You see your fiancé, Jack, having sex with your drunken best friend, Jess. She can barely keep her eyes open, she’s so drunk. She couldn’t have known what was going on. But then you look over to Jack. He looks like he knows exactly what he’s doing, and he’s enjoying it, too. No influence of alcohol on him. Just evil. Suddenly he realizes that someone is there, and turns around. “What the f*** do you think you’re doing?!” You shout. “We’re getting married!” You begin to cry. “Baby. I love you. This isn’t what you think!” Jack lies. You quickly wipe your tears away and stare at him with a look of pure hurt and hate. “Oh it’s EXACTLY what I think. I’ve never been so hurt. Don’t touch me!” You pull back your hand and walk over to the bed. You wrap your friend up in a sheet, grab her clothes, and help her up off the bed. “How could you do this to me? How could you do this to her? I hate you and I never EVER want to see you again.” Then you pull the engagement ring off of your finger. “Here’s your stupid ring. Goodbye Jack, and may God have mercy on your soul!” You passionately shout, before carrying the passed-out Jess out of the door and into your car.

When you got home, you tucked Jess into bed and locked the door, before rushing over to your best friend, ’s house. It had been raining when you ran over, so you, of course, were soaked by the time you reached his door and knocked on it. (4)KIAN answered the door and let you in. “What’s wrong, ? Is everything alright with the wedding?” With that, you run into his arms and hug him, bursting into tears. He slowly brings you over to the couch and you sit down. “There isn’t going to be a wedding. Jack decided that on the same week we get married, he’d get my best friend drunk and f*** her.” You cry and starts feeling the hot stab of anger. “He wasn’t even drunk! And poor Jessy couldn’t even keep her eyes open!” put his arm around her and comforts her. “It’s okay, . He obviously doesn’t deserve you. You are the smartest, kindest, funniest, most beautiful girl that I’ve ever known, and if he can’t see that, than he does not deserve to have you.” You hug him again. This time, though, you can hear his heartbeat and you feel the warmth coming from his chest. His breath lightly blowing on your cheek, as his hand slowly moves through you hair. You feel the same love and lust that you have had for him and for the past few months. You were too afraid to show it in the past, afraid of the consequences. Sure you had slipped once with , but you tortured yourself about it night and day. You couldn’t do anything back then, you were getting married and you knew that you couldn’t slip again. Especially not with , since you knew that you fall for him so easily. And now that same latent, hidden love had come back full blast. You looked up into his eyes, seeing the dreamy blue gaze that made you feel as if you could fly away up to heaven. Then, you notice that he is looking straight at you with a look of love in his eyes. You think you must look terrible, being all wet, but you quickly forget that as he gently caresses your soft cheek. Slowly, he moves in closer, and closer, until you can feel his breath on your face. Then, he leans in and your lips finally meet in the long-awaited kiss. Sparks seem to explode around you and in your head is in a spin. You keep envisioning being outside and beautiful silver rain drops are coming down around you, but you and never seem to be hit by any of them. Then you flash back to normal as the kiss ends, after what seems like an eternity. You look back into his eyes, and realize something you hadn’t before. You put a hand up to your lips in shock. is . They were the only two people who had ever and could ever kiss you and make you feel the way you do. smiles. “You know who I am now, don’t you?” You nod in response. “I love you and I want to make you the happiest woman in the world. Will you make me the happiest man in the world and be my wife?” He asked. “I was going to call you and tell you, but I couldn’t find the words until now.” He pulls a velvet box out from his pocket and opens it, so that it’s facing you. It’s the most beautiful thing you have ever seen. A white gold diamond ring that sparkles so bright. Then, he pulls the ring itself out and asks again. “Will you marry me?” You look to the ring, then to his eyes again. So hopeful, so faithful, so loving. Then, you smile. “I love you. Yes! I’ll marry you, !” He slips the ring onto your finger and it fits perfectly. Then, you seal the happy moment with a kiss.

It’s a week later and your getting ready. Your hair looks perfect, as well as your makeup, as you put the veil on. You take your father’s arm and step out into the beautiful church, decorated with red roses and baby’s breath. A string quartet begins accompanied by a flutist began to play as you look over to , and smile brightly. He smiles back looking extremely happy. You stand up in front of the church holding the hands of your beloved. Then, he lifts the veil from your head, and kisses your lips, softly. You step back, smile, and kiss again. He whispers “I love you.” In your ear and you respond. “I love you too.” Who would have known that you would soon be .
