PART ONE
slid the envelope into the mailbox and walked away quickly,
hoping he hadn’t seen her. Her sun-streaked hair was tied up and
stuffed under a baseball cap, which also hid her face. She wore a white
t-shirt, her yucky brown cargo pants no one had ever seen her in, with the
exception of her family, and an old pair of shoes, not her trademark
sneakers. Chances were that even if he did see her he wouldn’t
recognise her at all. Good, she thought. would die if he ever saw
her dressed like this. She would die if anyone saw her dressed like this.
Thankfully, the street was empty and she ran home to change.
PART TWO
That night, feeling much better about herself as she was dressed in jeans
and her sneakers, returned to ’s house. She was
hoping like hell he had found her love letter, or else she was about to make
a complete idiot of herself. She had probably done that anyway, but. Oh
well, she sighed. Just gotta make the best of what I’ve started.
was a good friend of ’s. They had met backstage at a
Westlife concert when she had gotten lost (accidentally on purpose), hit it
off and exchanged phone numbers and stayed in close contact. Originally a
fan, she gradually fell for him. That was at the start of the year
when had just begun her exchange. Now she was heading back to
in a couple of months and wanted to know what she felt
for him before she left.
As she approached his house, she could see light shining around the edges of
the curtains. Well at least he’s home, she thought. That’s something. She
knocked on the door and waited. “Come in!” a voice yelled down the hall.
opened the door and looked around. Judging by the laughter coming
from down the hall the rest of Westlife was here as well. She sighed again
as she closed the door behind her and walked down the hallway. “Please don’t
let him mention anything about the letter in front of the others,” she
muttered.
As she reached the open door to the lounge she caught a snatch of what they
were saying. “I love you with all my heart!” came ’s voice, followed
by a burst of laughter. “You are my everything, ! I never want to let
you go!”

carefully chosen to avoid the worst embarrassment. She looked inside the
room and saw kneeling in front of , batting his eyelashes
and making sickly love faces at him. , and were
laughing so hard they were in danger of suffocating themselves. Lastly she
looked at . He was bright red, but still laughing along with the
others. She couldn’t believe it. She had basically poured her heart out to
him and he showed it to the others so they could all have a good laugh.
had never felt so hurt and betrayed. It was as if had
ripped her heart out and stepped on it, rubbing it into the dirt, then
walked away without another thought.
finally noticed her in the doorway and waved for her to join them, a
smile on his face. That was the last straw. Tears sprang to her eyes and she
ran out of the house.
PART THREE
and the other lads watched ’s sudden exit, confused. “What
did we do?” asked , voicing his thoughts out loud. shrugged
at him, a worried look on his face, before picking up the envelope that the
anonymous love letter had come in. A scrap of paper fell out into his lap.
He guessed it had been ripped off the letter and picked it up to read it.
Suddenly he bit his lip and handed it to . Puzzled by ’s
expression, read the paper as well.
Tell me you feel the same?
He paled and dropped the paper on the floor, before running out after

PART FOUR
ran through the park across the road from ’s place, tears
streaming down her face. How could he do that? How could he? Those words
went around and around in her head. She stumbled through the dark, trying to
get as far away from as possible.
“!”
The shout came from behind her and her steps faltered as she recognised the
voice. She regained her footing and kept running, determined to lose him.
“! Wait!”
This time he was closer. She was about to speed up when he tackled her from
the side, slamming them both into the ground. Their momentum caused them to
roll over several times before they stopped, lying on top of her.
fought to get him off her, but he was stronger and she remained on
the ground. “Will you just listen to me?!” asked, trying to stop her
struggling without hurting her.
“Why should I?” she retorted savagely. “I already know what you think about
me!”
looked down at her, seeing her tear-stained cheeks and the hurt in
her eyes. Carefully he leant forward and kissed her softly.
lay there in shock as kissed her, her mind whirling in
confusion. Part of her was happy. Overjoyed, in fact. Her stomach felt like
it was doing back flips. Another part of her was angry that he would go and
do this after hurting her so much. That part wanted to slap him, but with
her arms pinned there wasn’t much she could do. And part of her just felt
like crying for no good reason.
Slowly, pulled away. “I love you, , and I
always will.”
