At First Sight
by Laurita

When Hailey and Alia stepped out of the white Mercedes cab, they were glad they didn’t have to wait in the line, or even try to get in line at Zouk, a nightclub on the Singapore River. Luckily, they had gotten VIP tickets and not only would they get let in before everyone else for a front row spot, they were going to meet Westlife within the next half n hour. They walked around back and pushed their way through the sea of people at the back door entrance. These were the one who were unable to get tickets, but were like the FBI, and found out where the party was. They showed the crew their passes, and much to the dismay of the rest of the crowd, were let past the guards. One guard, waiting just behind the ones at the door, showed them the way. After walking down a long white hallway, and given some strange looks by a few people walking the opposite way, possibly because they were giggling so hard and pretending to act like the guard who was showing them the way, they were shown into a room. The room had two dark blue leather couches, one a love seat for two, and another couch for three people, and two armchairs. The walls were a light blue, the floor white, and there was a mirror on one of the walls. The rest of the room was bare. The girls went in and the door was shut behind them.

“Do we really have to go through this right before the show?” Nicky whined. “We are always meeting the fans before the show, then they get put in the front row and they think they are so much more special than everyone else.”

“Why are you even asking, these are how we become what we are now.” Shane snapped. He was having trouble gelling up his hair and hadn’t gotten enough sleep the night before.

“Whoa boy, calm down. Think happy thoughts.” Bryan poked his head in. “I hate to think what the people we get to meet would think if they met the Shane that only we end up seeing.”

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” Kian added. He had known Shane the longest and knew not to mess with him when he was upset. “Where’s Mark?” Kian looked around the dressing room.

“He got finished earlier and went off looking for something to drink.” Shane went back to playing with his hair only to find his blow dryer wasn’t working because the plug was different.

All five boys were wearing black pants, a shirt, and black jacket. Each had slight changes to their outfits with Nicky having a shiny shirt and huge glittering belt buckle, Shane was wearing a black shirt, while everyone else had a white one. Kian wore a red stripped tie and Mark wore a blue one. Bryan wasn’t wearing a tie at all.

Nicky and Kian finished what they were doing and went to find Mark. “Great, we’ll have one angry member, with messy hair, and another drunk one.” Kian laughed. Nicky joined him. They turned the corner, expecting to see Mark at the private bar with a drink in his hand, however they saw him looking through a small window on the other side of the room.

“What are you doing here all alone mate?” Nicky went over to where Mark’s eyes were concentrated. Through the glass, they could see two girls sitting on the couch and quietly chatting among themselves. “I take back everything I said about not wanting to meet these ones.”

Kian just nodded in return.

“Don’t tell Georgina I said this, but those two are hot!” Nicky laughed.

“You know, it’s too bad they’re hot though.” Kian said.

“What did you just say?!” Nicky said.

“Well, if they are hot, it means that they never had to develop a nice personality, so they will probably be really snotty or something.” Kian casually remarked.

“That’s too bad. We can just look from up here, and not have to meet them.” Nicky giggled. “Mark, why didn’t you come get us earlier?”

Mark said nothing and continued to look down into the room where the two girls were waiting. His almost upset mood caught the attention of his friends.

“Mate, what’s wrong?” Kian looked worried to his friend.

“Nothing. I’m just tired.” Mark shrugged off any further comments.

“All right then.” Nicky looked to Kian who looked just as confused. More conversation was halted as Bryan came bounding into the room followed by still angry looking Shane.

Right after them was Ronan Keating, their manager, who was in town too for the MTV Asia Awards. “We’ve got two different things here than we do at other gigs. That over there is the one way mirror/window. All they see is a mirror, but you can see what the fans look like. Also, here we have a short list of questions that we had Alia and Hailey answer for you. Let’s see if there is anything good.” Shane and Bryan sat down as Ronan looked over the list. “They’re both Americans living here. Oh, Shane Alia, the brunette, likes you and Kian, Hailey, the blonde, likes you, so both of you try not to get involved with them. Alia is 21 and Hailey is 20, but her birthday is in like a month. Oh, and both of them are single, but you don’t need to know that. Mark, what’s wrong, you look like someone died.”

“Hehe great, not only do I have the hots for a girl, I find out that she likes me too, and my manager tells me not to get involved.” Kian laughed at his own little joke and everyone else gave him strange looks. “Well, I thought it was funny.”

Mark shrugged and said “Nothing” under his breath. In truth there was something bothering him. He had seen the questionnaire given to the girls and had quickly looked over the list. Strangely enough, the only thing he had read was that the brunette, who’s name he hadn’t even known until just then, had liked Shane. Then it had meant nothing to him, but as soon as he laid eyes on her, in the room, smiling and talking to her friend, he had fallen in love with her. It wasn’t like he had been trying to, but some inside instinct had pulled him towards her and couldn’t get past the feeling that she there because of fate.

“Good, then smile, and get in there. You have 20 minutes.” Ronan ushered they through a short tunnel and left.

“What is that sound?” Nicky asked quietly.

“Sounds like the WWF.” Bryan laughed, also quiet.

“We had better make ourselves comfortable.” Alia said and sat down on the couch. Hailey followed behind her. But soon Alia had stood up and began pacing. “Do you think Shane will like this shirt?”

“Not if you sweat in it so much that it stinks because you’re walking around.” Hailey tried to keep a straight face.

“You’re right,” Alia sat down. “Are we really here? Pinch me, I think I’m dreaming.”

“It’s a good dream if it is,” Hailey replied and obliged to Alia’s request.

“Ouch, that hurt!” Alia rubbed at her arm where Hailey pinched her.

“I do everything I’m told to do.” Hailey imitated Alia on one of her favorite lines.

“Not only do we act alike, you’re starting to sound like me.” Alia put on her best serious face, however it didn’t last for long. That ended with an earthquake of laughter, and Hailey began to nervously play with a loose strand of her updo. Alia sat and wondered what each of the boys would be wearing.

Hailey was very much in love, but had plans not to let it show in hopes that Kian would not think of her as some psycho Westlife fanatic. Alia on the other hand was drawn toward Shane, however often got the hots for a band member of any band in the neighborhood. Now, her love for Shane was raging. Both girls were dressed to kill and were also giggling like babies with a new toy.

“Does my hair look okay?” Hailey imitated Alia again to lighten the nervous mood. “OMG, I broke a nail!”

“Laugh all you want, but it’s not funny. You better stop that!” Alia pretended to punch Hailey.

“What did you just do?” Hailey looked over to Alia, shocked.

“I punched you, what do you think?” Alia looked in her eyes.

“Bitch,” Hailey said under her breath.

“Bitch,” Alia responded, slightly louder.

“Bitch,” Hailey got louder.

“Bitch,” and louder.

“Bitch,” by this point, Hailey was yelling. She burst out laughing. Alia followed suit and as she leaned over to laugh, she accidentally fell off the couch. This made Hailey laugh harder and she reached her hand out to help Alia up. Alia grabbed her hand and pulled her off the couch and right next to her. They missed the sound of the door handle turning.

“Girls, girls, there’s enough of us to go around.” A handsome Irish voice made both girls stop and slowly turn towards the door.

“That is unless you’re greedy.” Nicky added. Standing in the door was Kian, who got pushed in by an overexcited Nicky, a solemn Mark, a still slightly angry Shane, and last, Bryan. Bryan was just Bryan. They all stood there laughing, at the two girls who were, moments before rolling around on the floor.

“I…I…I can explain. She was acting like me again, and she does it all the time.” Alia stuttered out.

“It was her fault.” Hailey stammered.

“I have the best idea! How about we go out, give you two a few seconds and then come back in?” Bryan joked.

“Sounds like a great idea, see you in a few.” Alia ushered them out into the hall, and shut the door.

“That…that was Kian.” Hailey stated blankly.

“Yes it was, now sit down and wipe that look off your face. They’ll be back in like two seconds.” Alia sat down and shook Hailey. The dreamlike face removed itself from her face.

KNOCK KNOCK! “Can we come in?” Shane called through the door.

“Sure,” Hailey called out. When the boys walked into the room, they found two well-dressed girls peacefully sitting one on each of the couches. The five stood stunned at either the prettiness of the two girls, the fact that they had been kicked out of their own interview, or a mixture of the two. Bryan was silently shaking with laughter.

“Good god man, what’s wrong with you? You look like you’re about to explode. What’s so funny?” Nicky asked.

“I was wondering if, um sorry, what’s your name?” Bryan asked.

Alia was about to answer when Mark snapped. “This is Alia,” he pointed to Alia. “And this is Hailey. Remember, Ronan told us less than five minutes ago.” Shane looked at Mark who returned to his place in the shadows where he was moments before his outburst. Shane had no idea about Mark’s mood, however Kian did, and knew that it was making Mark grumpy and snappy. Luckily, neither girl paid any attention.

“Wait, Ronan, as in Ronan Keating is here?” Alia asked.

“Yeah, but he just left. He had to do something just like this over on the other side of town.” Shane put on his biggest fake smile, and sat down next to Alia.

“That’s cool. What were you saying Bryan before this crazy woman interrupted you?” Hailey asked.

“Well, I was wondering if you knew that I was kidding when I said leave and come back out.” Bryan laughed.

“Oh, oops, sorry.” Alia blushed slightly. “Come on in, sit down, Hailey doesn’t bite. Well, not too hard.”

Kian took Shane’s idea and planted himself next to Hailey. He, along with all the other boys missed, however Alia didn’t, the sparkle in Hailey’s eye of amazement. Her dream was coming true. Mark sat on the other side of Alia and Nicky and Bryan both took the two armchairs. Pleasant conversation was made for the next 15 minutes and the girls got pictures with all of the boys. Right before the two girls were forced to leave and enjoy the show, Kian got his gut and asked Hailey for her e-mail address and phone number.

“You want my what?” Hailey said shocked.

“Your email address and phone number. I really like you and I want to see you again.” Kian looked pleadingly into her ever changing eyes.

“Kian, I don’t know how to say this, but…” Hailey started.

“Please tell me you’re single.” Kian gasped.

“Yeah, no I am single, but I don’t know if I should give you my number. I don’t want you to break my heart. You’re famous, how do I know that you might take the paper, then throw it away and forget this night ever happened?” Hailey’s voice was quivering.

“How about this, if everyone else wasn’t in the room, I would kiss you right now. I don’t know how else to say it.” Kian pleaded.

“Alright, then. Here they are.” Hailey quickly wrote down her name, e-mail, and phone number with a shaking hand. Hailey could tell, just by how he had said it, that he meant it. Hailey had fallen even more in love by meeting the personality half of Kian that she had never seen before.

Kian grabbed the paper and stuffed it into his pocket. “Thank you.”

Shane noticed the side conversation that went on next to him as he pretended to listen to Alia’s conversation. He wondered whether Alia had heard Kian as well, and figured he had better ask the same question of Alia so he wouldn’t look bad. “Alia can I have your e-mail address?”

Alia who had been jabbering about her old school stopped. “Um, okay I guess.” Alia wrote out the address and handed it to him. Alia could tell that Shane was not very into her. In fact she was sure that he would throw away the paper as soon as she left.

Shane took the paper and put it in his breast pocket. “Thanks.”

Soon after their time with Westlife was up. They were let out into the mosh pit just moments before the crowds, which had been waiting outside, were let in people came pouring in. Hailey and Alia were in the front, but the people who had been outside paid little attention to the two who were there before everyone else.

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

“What the fuck were you thinking back there?” Shane grabbed the back of Mark’s jacket and held him back as the boys filed out of the room.

“I’m having a bad day. All right? Lay off, you’re always like this. You always have to fucking get into my business. You should really calm down before shows.” Mark shook off Shane’s hand walked off in the direction of the other boys.

Kian and Nicky were looking in the mirror putting final touches to their outfits. “Well, I have to take back what I said this time. They were hot, and they had great personalities.”

“You’re right. You know, you and Hailey hit it off really well didn’t you?” Nicky asked.

“Yeah, she’s a great person. I think I like her. I can’t believe I let myself fall in love. Ronan is going to kill me. Oh well, they can’t keep us single forever. I don’t care what anyone says. She’s going to be my girlfriend.” Kian announced.

“What if she doesn’t want to be mate?” Nicky laughed.

“That’s her choice, but I’m not letting her go, unless that’s what she wants.” Kian said.

Mark came bursting in, Shane following close behind. “I’m not done with you. It’s not your business what I do with my fans.” Shane yelled and the room went quiet.

“Are you just trying to make it more obvious to her that you don’t even slightly like her and just asked for her e-mail so you wouldn’t look bad. Did it ever occur to you that you can’t go around like you’re the king of the world and can do what ever you want to with anyone you want to? You’re dealing with someone’s heart, it’s not something that is there for your taking and pleasure.” Mark said and stormed off.

Bryan, Nicky and Kian sat stunned at what they had just heard. Shane fumbled with his breast pocket and removed a slip of paper. “If Alia means so much to you, then you write her. If you can find her email address.” Shane laughed evilly and threw the paper into a trashcan. He too walked out of the room.

Kian walked over to the trashcan and removed the paper. He stuffed it into his pocket. “I think I know who would want this.”

Everyone followed Shane and Mark and went out into the waiting area they were in earlier. Shane and Mark were on opposite sides and neither had any intention of talking to one another. “You’ll be going on in about two minutes, so come backstage.” A stagehand popped her head in and motioned for the boys to follow her.

Once onstage, all arguments were forgotten and except for Shane’s mic being not loud enough, it went well. Kian and Hailey couldn’t get their eyes off each other. Alia was always looking at Shane and Shane occasionally looked at her so she wouldn’t be angry. Alia never noticed, but Mark was looking at her for a good portion of the show. After the show Alia and Hailey went home. Westlife would be leaving the next day, and wouldn’t be able to see the two again until they came back. They didn’t know they would be coming back in two months.

Mark and Shane got over their argument, apologized, and became friends again soon because they were together so often. You can’t stay mad with someone you’re with 24/7.

Two Months Later

Hailey received many e-mails from Kian and replied to all of them. Alia however, never received a letter from Shane. “It was too good to be true anyway you know.” Alia said when she and Hailey were out on Orchard Rd one afternoon.

“I have gotten so many letters from Kian. Do you want me to ask him about Shane? I could if you wanted me too.” Hailey said.

“No, that’s okay. I guess it wasn’t meant to be. Do you know when they are coming back?” Alia asked.

“I haven’t got a clue. I keep asking Kian, but he says they don’t have any plans yet.” Hailey giggled.

“What’s so funny?” Alia asked.

“No one except for the rest of Westlife know that we are together. Kian says that the one thing that Ronan had said to him before they met us was not to get “involved.” If only he knew.” Hailey laughed. “So how much longer until your apartment is done?”

“Oh, it should be about one more week. I’m really excited. When it’s done being renovated, there will be so much more room and the place is going to suit my personality so much more.”

“What, is that what your horoscope in some magazine says?” Hailey laughed.

“Yeah, it’s in this one. I wonder what it says this week?” Alia picked up the same magazine for the next week. “Uh, oh. This can’t be good. It says I will have heartbreak, but a new love interest will help me through it and we will have a future together. Well, the only love interest I have right now is remotely Shane. Great, he’ll break my heart, as if he hasn’t already, but some knight in shinning armor will come and we will get together. Sounds like a great week to me.”

“Oh, come on. These things are never true. How is your hotel room?” Hailey tried to get Alia’s mind off the topic of Westlife.

“It’s really nice. The Four Seasons has great service and the rooms are big and comfy. Why don’t you come over now? We have so many bags and your house is so far away. The hotel is just around the corner.” Alia suggested.

“Sounds like a great idea, besides getting a cab will be easier if we are hotel guests.” Hailey smiled and the two lugged their shopping bags around the corner and upstairs to Alia’s top floor suite. She was in room 2003, on the 20th floor.

“Oh, I forgot to tell you. I got this really strange e-mail from someone I don’t know. It was really a sweet e-mail, but I don’t know the person that sent it to me and they won’t write back when I ask who it is.” Alia burst out when they had set their stuff down, gotten sodas, and sat down.

“Like a secret admirer letter? What did it say?” Hailey asked.

“Kinda, but it was really strange. I memorized it cuz I was really short too. It said, “Do you believe in love at first sight, because the moment I saw you I fell in love.”

“That is so cute. But very mysterious. Maybe it’s you knight in shining armor you were talking about.”

“I doubt it.” Alia laughed. They sat around and talked for about an hour and decided to go out partying the next night at the nightclub Zouk.

“Right, so just call me when you’re ready tomorrow.” Hailey called through the closing elevator doors. She had left her stuff at Alia’s so they could get ready to go out together. Hailey waited as she went down the 20 floors. When the doors opened on the bottom floor, the sound was deafening. There were security guards everywhere and about 300 people waiting outside screaming. Hailey saw someone standing slightly to the side and asked him. “Excuse me sir, could you tell me what’s going on here?”

“Well, Westlife got off their plane at Chanji about half an hour ago and they are due to arrive here any minute.” The man answered.

“Are you sure it’s Westlife? I’m Kian’s girlfriend and he told me nothing about him coming.” Hailey asked shocked.

“Well, I’m the one in charge of everything that they do while in Asia and I’m sure they are coming. As for you being Kian’s girlfriend, he never mentions you, so I’m going to have to ask you to step outside along with everyone else.” The security guard was a big burly man and was about to usher her outside when the screaming got much louder and a black van pulled up outside. The guard went running off and left Hailey standing there with the astounded look on her face.

Hailey ran off following the guard and was ignored by all onlookers who thought she was part of Westlife’s posse. The back door opened and out stepped all five boys. “Kian!” Hailey screamed, but she wasn’t heard because of all the other people doing the exact same thing. It made no difference because the five of them were headed right towards her.

“Hailey? Is that you? What are you doing here?” Kian pushed the others out of the way and ran over to where she was standing. He gave her a big bear hug and a quick peck on the cheek.

“No, the question is what are you doing here. You didn’t tell me you were coming.” Hailey laughed.

“I wanted it to be a surprise because I only found out a few days ago too.” Kian laughed and hugged her tighter. “I just left a message on your answering machine. Now you tell me. What are you doing here?”

“Well, Alia is having her apartment renovated and she is staying here until it’s finished. We were shopping and came back here because it was closer than my house.” Hailey smiled.

‘Alia!’ (Mark’s thought) Mark had though about her often since they left after meeting with the girls’ two months ago. After the party had finished Kian had pulled him aside. Kian had gotten Alia’s e-mail address from the trashcan where Shane threw it and gave it to him. Mark had treasured the fact that he had it, but did nothing because he knew that Alia was in love with Shane and not him. Only a week ago he had gotten the courage to write her, however he had written a strange letter. He asked her if she believed in love at first sight, because he loved her since the moment he saw her. The day after, his computer broke and he hadn’t been able to reach a computer since. He also had no idea that they were going to come to Singapore when he wrote the letter. He was not sure what he was going to do while there. He wasn’t sure if he could hold back his emotions for her, especially if he was going to be near her because of Kian and Hailey.

“Alia who?” Shane asked. He was alone because everyone else recognized the name and nodded when Hailey said it.

“The Alia we met last time we were here. At the party, remember?” Nicky stepped in before anyone could say anything. Well, mostly so Mark wouldn’t bring up old arguments.

“Oh, that Alia. I remember now.” Shane said. He remembered she was obsessed with him and he didn’t care.

“Where is Alia staying at? I mean what floor? We are on the 20th, room 2005 and 2006, I think.” Bryan asked. “We could all probably go out and do something together tonight."

“We can’t do it tonight, remember, we have the dinner with the fans thing.” Nicky reminded him.

“Well, how about tomorrow? Alia and I already had plans to go out to Zouk. You could just join us.” Hailey suggested.

“That sounds like a great idea.” Kian said.

“I have to go now, but I’ll see you later alright?” Hailey asked.

“Alright sweetie. I’ll call you tomorrow.” Kian gave her another hug, and was pushed into the elevator by the same man that Hailey had talked to earlier.

Hailey got in a cab and went home. The next day, she tried to call Alia, but was unable to reach her. They ended up playing phone tag because Alia called about half an hour later to say that she wouldn’t be able to get ready with Hailey because she had to go over plans with the interior decorator. She would be at Zouk at about eight, and would see Hailey there. Kian and Hailey talked on the phone and decided to meet outside Zouk at eight too. Alia arrived and got in line. Hailey arrived and when she saw Alia in line, she walked over to her. “I don’t think you need to stand in line.”

“Why not?” Alia asked.

“Well, I have some friends coming, and they are going to get us in so we don’t have to wait in line.” Hailey said.

“What kind of friends have that kind of power?” Alia asked.

“Come on, lets go wait in front.” Hailey said. She tugged Alia out of line and they stood waiting at the front of the line, much to the displeasure of the people waiting at the front of the line.

“You can stand there and look pretty all you want, but it won’t get you in.” The guard at the door jeered at the two.

Hailey walked up to him and whispered something in his ear.

“Oh, sorry ma’am, I didn’t know.” The security guard said.

“It’s alright.” Hailey smiled.

“You must have some good new friends.” Alia said. “Who are they?”

“They aren’t new friends, hey, here they come.” The same black van that Hailey had seen yesterday pulled up, and out came Westlife. “Those are the friends.”

“They’re here?” Alia asked shocked. She would have said more, but Kian popped his head out, and Hailey went running towards him. He gave her a big hug. The seven of them were ushered into the club. Everyone either got a drink or went off to the dance floor to find someone to dance with. They ended up getting split up, except for Kian and Hailey. They had held each other’s hand and not let go when all the other’s went off to enjoy the enormous club. They found a table and began to talk about the past two months.

Alia was dancing with a few guys, but her mind was somewhere else, so she went off to find Shane. When she turned around, she saw him and another girl making out in the hallway going to the bathroom. Her eyes brimmed with tears and she ran out of the club, got in a cab and headed to her hotel. She didn’t know, but Mark had been watching her, and when he saw her leave, he ran after her.

He got outside and saw her getting into a cab. After running over to the street, he flagged a cab. “Follow that cab in front of us.”

The driver was an old wrinkled Chinese man, and he clearly could not understand English. He began speaking quickly in Chinese and Mark got out of the cab and looked around. There was another one right behind it, so he ran over to it and got in. “Please follow that cab in front of us. Do you see the one with the camera on top?”

“Okay man, calm down. Do you know where we’re going?” the taxi driver had a thick Indian accent.

“My only guess is the Four Seasons, but please hurry. I need to get to the person inside.” Mark sat on the edge of his seat as the bad sped off in the direction of Alia’s cab. Luckily, Alia’s cab had not gotten very far because there was a ton of traffic in front of the club.

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

Kian took Hailey’s hand in his. They had were drinking Guinness and talking about what each had been doing since they last saw each other. “Hailey, I would be honored if you would dance with me.” Kian asked and smiled.

“Then I will have to do you that horror, I mean honor.” Hailey took the hand he offered and he led her to the dance floor. As they got there, the fast song that had been playing before ended.

“This song goes out to all the couples in the house.” The DJ said. The song, “Hero” by Enrique Iglesias began blasting out of the speakers all around the club.

Hailey and Kian linked their bodies together and danced. As the song played, they got closer and closer as their fears of their forbidden relationship disappeared. Hailey placed her head on his shoulder. They danced like this until the song ended. Kian looked down and Hailey looked up at the exact same time and they looked into each other’s eyes. Their lips met as they shared their first real kiss. Even as the next song started and people all around them began to dance with jerky movements, they continued to kiss. They were in a world of their own.

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

Mark was right, when he turned the corner, he saw Alia’s cab leaving the drop off at the Four Seasons. “Thank you.” Mark handed the fare into the hand off the driver and jumped out of the car. He rushed into the lobby and saw Alia getting into an elevator. He ran over to the elevator, but missed it. Mark jabbed his hand into the up button. For what seemed like hours, Mark waited until the familiar sound of the elevator ding made him spin around. He jumped in and pressed 20. The elevator took forever, as it seemed, to get all the way up, but finally he got to the 20th floor.

Mark stepped out of the elevator, and looked around. The sign in front of him said his room was off to the right, however Alia’s was to the left. He walked down the hall and heard the sound of crying. Alia was sitting outside the door to her room, leaning against the wall, crouched over with her hands covering her eyes, crying.

“Alia?” Mark asked. Alia looked up and she wiped her eyes.

“Mark, what are you doing here? I thought you were at the club with everyone else.” Alia said.

“I was, but I saw you leave, and I wasn’t having a good time, so I though I would follow you, so maybe we could talk, but then you left, so I followed you to make sure that you were alright.” Mark said and smiled and sat down next to her. “Are you okay?”

“I’m sure you saw what Shane was doing when I saw him, didn’t you? He was making out with some girl. I used to love him so much, and I know he never liked me, but he didn’t have to rub it in my face. I could tell that he didn’t like me last time when you were here so why did he even ask for my e-mail address? If he wasn’t going to write me, then why did he even ask? Does he even care that he broke my heart?” Alia broke down and cried more. Mark could see that she was distressed and hugged her as she cried. Sometime later Alia turned to Mark and said, “You didn’t really just leave the club because you saw me leave did you?”

Mark got up and helped Alia to her feet. Alia wiped her face again as she got up. “Actually, I wanted to talk to you. Well…there was something I wanted to ask you.” Mark took Alia into his arms. “I wanted to know if you believed in love at first sight, because I’ve loved you since the moment I saw you.”

Alia looked up into his eyes. He was repeating the letter that she received a few days ago. Then her mind went into shock. He had sent the letter. He was in love with her. And as she looked into his eyes, for the first time, she fell in love with him. “I believe in love at first sight.” Alia whispered. “And I believe in you.” Alia and Mark began kissing and fell against the wall in front of Alia’s door.

To have a friend is one of the sweetest gifts that life can bring. Friends share your laughter with you, cry your sadness with you. A friend likes everything about you, even the things you try not to show. A friend is one who knows all about you and won’t go away. Faithful friends are beyond price and their goodness cannot be measured. Friendship, the older it grows, the stronger it is.
