Return To True Love

by Sofie Hagen

I looked at my tanned arm. "I hope it was worth it", I thought. "C'mon, Daniel! We have to hurry home! Maybe I still have time to save the plants!" my mom said. "We've been away for 4 years! I think your flowers, has turned into dust by now!" I yelled, but agreed to run to the car. My dad was standing in front of it. "My beloved girl!" he said, and hugged me. "Hi dad! I've missed you!" I said, and kissed him on the cheek. "God, you've grown! What are you now? 20?" he asked, and laughed. "I'm 21, dad! You knew that!" I grinned. "C'mon! I'll drive you home! Can you still remember Sligo?" he asked, and opened the door. My mom sat down at the front seat, and I took the back. "Sure, dad! Unless it has changed?" I asked, and looked out of the window. God, I'd missed Ireland! That trip to Turkey had changed my view at things. Not only, had I learned the value of life, but also, had I learned the value of friendship. I had to say goodbye to many, many of my friends, when I had to move on to a new city! It really sucked! My mother worked as an animal-professor. She saved many of the animals in Turkey.
"So, Daniel, my sweetheart! Missed the Filan's boy?" my dad asked, and smiled at my mother. "That little self-concentrated selfish..." I started, but my dad honked the horn.
"Easy, my girl! He's 21 to, remember! He's changed a lot! He's famous now!" he said. He was obviously very proud. "Oh, with his little garage-band?" I asked sarcastic.
"Well... Kinda... He's moved on now! He's been doing a world tour, and his band got two new members!" he said, and made a left-turn. "They're 8?!" I asked. "No! Dereck, Michael and that last guy, is out!" he said, and slowed down for red. "What?! They kicked out Dereck?! So Shane still IS a pig!" I complained. "Please, honey! Calm down! He's a good kid now! Aaaand...He's home! He's not home very often, you see!" my dad said, and smiled.

He made a right-turn, and I could recognise the houses. "Home!" my mother sang. My dad stopped the car, and I got out. It was very cold, but still in the middle of June. "Daniel, you don't think it's cold, do you?" my dad asked, and laughed at me. "I miss Turkey, mom, I wanna go back!" I complained, but had to agree, that home was best. We went into the house. Luckily, my dad had bought new flowers, to my mom, who got trilled. "You've been taking good care of the house, I see... I thought that Pamela wouldn't let you?" I asked. My dad got sad, when I mentioned her name. "I'm not with Pamela anymore! I live by my self!" he said. I got surprised. "I thought you loved Pammy?" I asked. "I did...." he sadly said. "But don't worry your little head about that! Go to your room, and turn on the CD-player!" he said, and hugged me. I ran upstairs, and into my room. It looked exactly like when I left it 4 years ago. I turned the CD-player on. A song started playing. At the last verse, I finally learned the chorus, "I never wanna see you cry, I never wanna say goodbye, I swear to you..." I sang for my self. I opened the window; cause the air was a little thick. I could see directly into Shane's room. Hey, he was sitting and reading a letter. He looked just as stupid, as always. Suddenly, he turned his head, and looked the other way. He said something to someone, and stood up. He walked over to the window. Suddenly he saw me. He smiled like crazy, and waved. I smiled sarcastic. "Nerd..." I whispered, and walked away from the window. Then I agreed with myself, that Shane was getting hotter and hotter. But still nerdy! "Daniel, want some dinner?" my mom asked, and entered my room. "Sure! I'm hungry as hell!" I said, and almost ran past her. But there weren't any supper on the table. "Are we going out?" I asked. "Uhm... Kinda... We're going to visit Mae..." my mom said, and avoided eyecontact. "Well, I would rather die of hunger, then to eat with Shane!" I said, and sat down on the couch. I turned on the television. There was a musicvideo on MTV. "Hey, it's Shane!" I said, and recognised the melody, from one of the songs. "And that's Kian... And that's Mark! What are they doing there?" I asked, and smiled. A lady turned up on the screen, "Now, we've been getting a lot of emails from Westlife-fans world-wide, and they all want a meeting with the lads! Here we got the lucky winners!" She said, and a little show came up. A young and pretty girl, started to scream and cry. She went into a room, and started to cry even more. "THAT'S SHANE!!!" I screamed, when I saw him giving the girl a hug. "Wow... Maybe your dad was right! Maybe he IS famous..." my mother stunned said. "I think we should ask him, when we eat dinner with him!" my mom quickly added. "I guess I can't avoid him forever..." I said, and turned the TV off. "Let's go!" I said, and walked out the door. We went over to our dear neighbour, and knocked on the door.

Shane opened. "Hi Daniel and Mrs. McRyan!" he said, and looked very surprised. "Hi egghead!" I said. God, he was hot! "Daniel! You're 21 now! Act like an adult!" my mother said, and gave me a push in the back. "Sorry! Hi Mr. Filan!" I said, and smiled sarcastically. "Sorry, Shane!” my mother said. "Oh, it doesn't matter! I haven't changed either!" he said, and looked at me. I turned around and looked at my mother. She just pushed me inside. "Hi my little Daniella! Miss playing with my son?", Shane's mother came running. "With all respect, Mrs. Filan, I don't miss it at all!" I said, and shook her hand. "Well, he miss playing with you!" she laughed. "MOM!" Shane almost yelled. "I have something to show you..." Shane said, and took me upstairs. We went into his room. "Look!" he proudly said, and gave me a magazine. On the front page, there was a big picture of Shane holding some pink flowers. "Oooh..." I sarcastically said. "Read the text!" Shane said, and pointed. "Shane wants you!" I read loud. "Ew!" I yelled, and gave him the magazine. "C'mon, Daniel! I'm famous now! I've changed!" he said, and smiled. "Yeah yeah... Why did you throw Dereck and Michael out?" I asked, and looked at a giant poster of Westlife. "I didn't. Ronan Keating did." He said. "Ha ha ha! The singer, Ronan Keating??" I laughed. "Yeah! I swear!" he said. "Who are these guys??" I asked, and pointed on the two guys I didn't know. "They're coming over tonight. We're gonna write some songs... Hey, you can come over, and help! We'll thank you in our next album!" he said, and looked at me with puppy-eyes. "I would love to see Mark and Kian again! And meet the guys who thinks they're better than Dereck and Michael!" I said, and left the room. I went downstairs, at my mom and Shane’s parents. We ate in 3 hours, while we were telling about our trip. Mae was telling us about Shane's success, but I just rolled my eyes. "Daniel, my dear, why are you so mad at Shane? You were best pals once!" my mom asked. "Well, you see.." I said, and got eyecontact with Shane, "...When we became 14, I got older, but he didn't!". "That's it?? No big-bomb or something?" Shane objected. "Well, do you want me to share it with everyone?!" I madly asked. "It can't be so serious!!" Shane almost yelled. "Okay! Remember Bobby Lookman? I had a big crush on him, and you told the whole city, that I'd told you that I had been dating him!! He got so mad at me, and made all his friends hate me!" I yelled across the table. Everybody stopped eating. "Well, do you have ANY idea, WHY I did it?!" he yelled. "I guess you'd lost your brain!" I yelled back. My mother tried to laugh, but stopped. "No! Think again! Why would I ruin a relationship?? The boy liked you too!! You would have been together, if it wasn't for me!" he yelled. I got so surprised, that my face turned red. "HE DID!?!? YOU BIG JERK!!!" I screamed, and threw a donut after him. He moved his head, right before it hit him. "WHY DON'T YOU JUST SHUT UP, AND THINK, IF YOU CAN!!" he yelled, and threw the donut back. Our parents were stunned. "YOU WANNA TAKE THIS OUTSIDE?!" I yelled, when the donut almost hit me. "SURE! I WOULD BE MORE THEN HAPPY TO KICK YOUR BONEY ASS AGAIN!!" He yelled. "BONEY ASS??? I WOULDN'T BE SO SELFISH IF I HAD SUCH AN UGLY FACE!!" I yelled. "That's it!" my mother yelled. "Daniel, sit down, and Shane, you too!" she said. We both sat down, and didn't say a word. "Now you two... Go out side, and solve this as grown-ups." Mae said. We both went outside, as they'd told us to. I sat down on their old swing, and Shane sat down in the shadow of a tree. "Why did you do that, Shane? You knew that he meant a lot to me!" I said, and looked at the small garden. "Can't you just let it go?" he quietly asked, and looked down. "That was the reason, we became enemies. I wanna know why!" I said. "You've always got what you wanted... Okay, you really wanna know?" He asked, and became very shy. "Please, Shane! I would love to be best friends with you again!" I said. "Okay... I kinda had a little tiny crush on you..." he slowly said. "That's it?? Haha, how adorable!" I laughed. "What?" he asked, and got very surprised. "Haha, how cute!" I laughed. "Oh, you're going down!" he laughed, and started to run after me. I could hardly run, because I was laughing so much. "Shane, please stop!" I screamed, but Shane could run faster than me, so he grabbed me, and pushed me on the ground. He started to tickle me, while I was laughing like an insane. "SHANE!!" I screamed, and tried to remove his hands. But he was too strong, so he just kept tickling me. Suddenly, he got pulled away from me. I looked up, and saw Mark holding Shane. "Mark!" I yelled, and smiled. "Hi! C'mon! Tickle the poor thing!" he laughed. I took the opportunity, to tickle Shane, who was trying to get out of Marks strong hands. At last, Mark let him go, and we all ended up, laying at the grass, looking at the sky. "I'm so glad you're back!" Mark said, and laughed. "Me too... Is Kian coming over later?" I asked, and looked at the apple-shaped cloud. "Yeah, with Bryan and Nicky! You must meet those guys! They're the coolest!" Mark said. "I'm sure they are... I can't wait!" I said. But I said it to soon... "IT'S PARTY-TIME!!!" someone yelled. We quickly got up! I saw a "big" guy, standing beside Kian. "Kian! And...?" I said. "Bryan! But you can call me sweetie!" Bryan said, and shook my hand. I gave Kian a big hug, and a kiss on the cheek. "And you are?" Bryan asked. I looked at Shane. "She's my old neighbour. We've been friends ever since we met in kindergarten!" he explained. "When is Nicky coming over?" Mark asked. "Later... He had to say goodbye to Georgi, and y’all know how long, that takes!" he said, and laughed. "Haha! Don't scare the girl, Bry!" Shane said, and almost meant it as a warning. "Yeah yeah..." Bryan laughed, and smiled at me. I smiled back. "Is he single?" I whispered to Mark - meant as a joke. "He's married!" he whispered back. He started to laugh at me. "What ya laughing at?" Bryan asked. "Nothing!" I quickly said. "It's so nice to see you!" Kian suddenly yelled, and gave me another hug. "Kian!" I laughed. "Daniel, we've missed you like hell!" Mark said, and pushed Kian away, to hug me too. "You guys are insane!" I laughed. "C'mon on guys... I'm bored watching you hug each other! I miss Kerry again!" Bryan said. I quickly gave him a hug. "Haha, you're pretty cool..." he laughed. "Hey, you're stealing my friend!" Shane said. I laughed at them. "When is that... Nick-boy coming over?" I asked, and sat down on the swing again. "He should be here any minute... But watch out! He's ticklish!" Bryan said, and smiled. He had a pretty sweet smile. "Who's that?" somebody asked. I looked around, and saw a little guy, with blond hair. "That's my best friend!" Shane said, and smiled. "Hi, I'm Daniel!" I said, and stood up. "She's pretty cool!" Bryan said. "Oh, hi Daniel! I haven't seen you before, but you're Shane's best friend?" the guy asked. His voice was very weird, but cute. "I moved to Turkey... It's a long story!" I said. Nicky just nodded and smiled. "Let's do something! I'm bored..." Bryan said, after 10 minutes of sitting down. "Is he always that hyper-active?" I asked Shane. "Always..." Kian, Mark and Nicky said. I laughed at them. "Let's write a song! I got a great title!" Bryan said. "Oh, tell me!" Shane said, and laughed. "The song-title: I wanna grow old with you! Something about...Hmmm... Love!" Bryan said, and grabbed a pencil from his pocket. He searched after a piece of paper, in his pockets, but couldn't find anything. He quickly took my hand, and wrote something on it. "...Okay! And?" Bryan asked the others. He was extremely strong, so I couldn't remove my hand, though I tried. Shane started to sing some words, which didn't make sense, but the melody was great. Bryan hummed with him. In that way, they created a little melody. I smiled at them, and clapped when they were finished. "You really are talented!" I said, and laughed, when I saw their proud faces. "Duh! We got 7 number ones in a row!" Mark said, and messed up my hair. "Hey!" I objected. "What are we gonna do now! I'm bored writing songs!" Bryan said, and stood up. "You haven't even finished one!" Nicky said with a bright voice. I stood up too. "We could play something... football?" I asked. "Football? Way to violent!" Shane said. "I meant soccer!" I said. They were all up for that. "Let's play it on the road!" Bryan said and smiled. "Yeah, why not? There aren’t any cars!" I said. We didn't wait for an answer, we just went trough the house, with the rest of the guys following us. When we arrived at the road, Shane got a ball. We started to play, and had a lot of fun! Suddenly, Mark kicked the ball, so hard, that it went straight trough the window, at their neighbour. "Miss McGullen lives in there! RUN!" Kian screamed, and we all started to run. We heard somebody yell after us, but we just ran on. We came to a tree, and stopped. "Oh... God... That was fun!" I said, with troubles breathing. "It was scary! She's gonna tell our parents..." Shane told me. I started to laugh. "Ha ha, Shane! You're not afraid of your mom, are you?" I asked. "Yes he is!" Bryan quickly said. Shane just laughed at him. Suddenly, a mobile phone rang. Kian quickly reached down his pocket, and pulled out a mobile. "Hello?... Of course!.... I don't know. Maybe next weekend?... Now? Right now?... No can do!... We're on our holiday!... Well, okay!... Next Sunday!.. Saturday!... Bye!". He hang up. "It was Louis... We're doing a Top Of The Pops, next Saturday!" He said. "Great..." Bryan said, and sat down. "Can I come?" I quickly asked. "Well... I think we can get you in someway..." Bryan smiled. "Thank you!" I said. It would be nice to meet the bands, which were 'in'. "And... We always get so damn drunk, after!" Kian said, and laughed. "C'mon! She can't last that long!" Nicky said, and laughed too. "What? How long??" I asked. "We start at 11 PM... And goes on to 6 AM.... Can you handle it?" Mark asked, and almost meant it as a challenge. "Of course! I haven't been drinking in 4 years now, so I should be able to last for 3 days!" I said, and made them smile. "Look, it's been a real pleasure to meet you! I must go now! I promised to be home soon.... Bye guys!" Nicky said, and started to run down the road. "He's pretty cool!" I said. What I really meant was that he was DAMN hot! "Yeah, and he's right too! I better get home to... Nice to see you again! I've missed you!" Mark said, and hugged me. "I've missed you too!" I said. "Mark, can I get a ride?" Kian asked. Mark nodded. "Thanks! It's been nice to see you again! I promise to bring you a present, when I see you again!" Kian said. They both went down the road. It was only Shane, Bryan and me, who were left. "Let's go home, and have some fun! We need to catch up things..." Shane said. "Okay, I'll go home to my Kerry-bunny!" Bryan said, and left, without saying goodbye. I slowly went down the hill, to our houses. "I really have missed you... When you left... " Shane started to say, but stopped. "...Then what?" I asked. "I didn't knew, what to do! I mean… You hated me! And I kinda loved you!" he almost whispered. "Shane, that's history now! I don't hate you! Everything has changed!" I said. "Not everything..." Shane whispered - But I wasn't sure! "Huh?" I asked. "Nothing." he just replied. Finally, we arrived at my front door. "Shane, it's good to see your smiling face again!" I said, and hugged him. He gave me a kiss on the cheek. "I've always missed your smile... It could light up a rainy day!" Shane said, and laughed. "That's why it's so hot!" I laughed. We laughed a little, but then we stopped. "See you tomorrow! We're hanging out with Kerry and Bryan!" Shane said, and took my hand. He gave it a little squeeze. "Sounds cool... See you..." I quietly said, and let go of his hand. I went inside. Man that was a long goodbye! I guess he really missed me!

"Daniel! Get up!". My mother was knocking on the door. "What?" I complained. "Shane is at the door! With two other people!" my mother yelled. "Now?! I'll be there any minute!" I yelled, and quickly got up. I put on my clothes, and combed my hair. I ran downstairs, and saw Kerry, Bryan and Shane sit in the living room, laughing at some soap opera. "Finally! You weren't sleeping, were you?" Bryan asked, and laughed at me. "Of course not! I was trying to see, how the room looked, with my eyes closed!" I sarcastically said. "Hi Daniel! It's nice to meet the girl, I've heard so much about!" Kerry said. "Hi Kerry! You're lucky to have Bryan... But do you ever sleep?" I asked, while I ate a donut. "We have our ways..." Bryan said, and kissed Kerry. "Kerry and Bryan is sitting in a tree, they're k-i-s-s-i-n-g!" Shane sang. "Shane is jealous, 'cause he doesn't have a girlfriend!" Bryan explained. I smiled at Shane, who got pretty embarrassed. "What are we doing today?" I asked, and brushed my hair again. "Nothing. Everything. Doesn't matter, as long I'm with Kerry-honey-bunnie!" Bryan said, and kissed Kerry again. Shane made a face of them, and laughed at me. I laughed back. "Let's just go..." Kerry said, and I said goodbye to my mother. We went out, to Bryan's car. Kerry and Bryan sat in front, and Shane and me sat in the back. We started to drive. "So... Where are we going?" I asked. "Oh, it's a surprise..." Shane said. "Shane has decided this trip..." Bryan said, and made a left-turn. "Recognise it?" Shane asked. It was the old park! "Oh, the place where we first met!" I yelled, and hugged Shane. "Yeah! How did you meet?" Bryan asked and made a right-turn. "Well, we went in kindergarten together... We always supported each other, when the other kids bullied us." I started to explain, "We ended up in school, as well... We sat next to each other.". Shane took over, "Yeah, but when we got to puberty... Troubles happened! We started to notice the opposite sex... And, well, it caused troubles...". I nodded. "Yeah, but how did you meet in the park?" Kerry asked. "Well, when we became enemies, we were 13. But we both grew, and matured. Then one day..." I started saying, but Shane cut me of, "... I came walking down the park, and I saw the worlds most beautiful girl sitting on a swing!" he said. I blushed. "Well, towards me, the hottest guy in Sligo came! I freaked, and thought: Oh god, it's Shane!" I told them. They listened carefully. "And I walked towards her, and gave her a hug. I said that it was nice to see her, and she smiled like an angel!" Shane said. He looked me in the eyes, and laughed. "Ha ha... Then we talked! We had SO much fun in that park that you can't imagine! We stayed up till 12 p.m.!" I said, and laughed loudly. "Ha ha! Yeah, and when we walked home, I thought that Daniel was coming with me home, so I was very happy!" Shane said, and I continued, "Yeah, me too! I was sure that Shane would come with me home.. But then we found out, that we were neighbours..." I said. Bryan made a turn, and stopped. "And we still are! End of story!" Shane said. We got out of the car, and started to walk towards the park. "That was a lovely story! So the park means a lot to you, huh?" Kerry asked. "Yeah! Kinda..." I said, and smiled at Shane. "Look! The swing!" Shane yelled, when he saw the swing! He grabbed my hand, and started to run towards it. I laughed, when he lifted me up on the swing. It was a big swing, for two persons, so he got up to. "They look like two lovebirds..." Kerry told Bryan. "HEY!" Shane and me yelled at the same time, and laughed. Bryan and Kerry sat down on a bench and kissed. Shane slowed down, and stopped. "Phew! I haven't done that for a while!" Shane said, and shook his head. I went with him, over next to Bryan and Kerry. "This is a romantic park!" Kerry said, and looked Bryan deep in his eyes. "You bet..." he said, and kissed her. "Get a room..." Shane mumbled. "Shane, relax! They're happy!" I said, and gave him a little push. "Hey! Don't think you're stronger that me!" he said, and gave me a little push too. That was kind of an invitation, so I started running, with Shane after me. I stopped, when I almost ran into two little girls. I looked back, and saw Shane come running. I started to run again. At last, he caught up with me, and laid me on the ground. He held my hands up, above my head. "So... Do you surrender?" he asked. "Never!" I answered. "C'mon! How will you get out of this?" Shane asked, and smiled. I tried to look behind Shane. Shane didn't get it, and looked the same way. In that moment, he looked away; I knocked him over, and started to run. "Daniel, come back!" Shane yelled, but I was far away. Yet, the boy ran after me. At last, I couldn't run anymore, so I let him catch me. He pushed me on the ground, and held my hands up, like before. "Surrender?" he asked, and breathed as heavy as me. "I'll…Never...Surrender!" I said, and tried to breathe normally. "Then you must be punished!" He said, and smiled. "Oh yeah! How?" I asked, kinda like an invitation. "Oh I don't know... Dinner at my place, tonight?" he asked. "Then rather surrender!" I laughed. "C'mon! We'll buy pizza, and sit in my room!" he said, and smiled. Oh, his smile was so damn cute. "Okay, on one condition..." I said. "Yes! Everything!" Shane said. "I wanna make the call to the Pizzahouse!" I said. Shane removed his hands, and sat up. I also sat up. "Phew! Are we getting to old to this?" I asked. "No, not at all..." Shane said, and pointed at Bryan and Kerry, who also did the same game.

We spend the rest of the day, in the park. When it got late, Bryan and Kerry went home, and I went home with Shane. "Mom, Daniel and me, is ordering from the Pizzahouse!" Shane yelled. "Okay, honey!" his mother yelled back. We quickly went upstairs. "So... What ya gonna order?" Shane asked, when we sat on his bed. "Well... Let's see... 134?" I asked. "Like old times..." Shane said. I called the number, and made the order. A half an hour later, they arrived with our pizza. "Thank you!" Shane said, and gave the pizza-boy the money. He went upstairs. "Here they are!" he said, and opened the box. I reached down, to take a piece, but Shane slapped my hands. "Ah ah! Not yet, missy! Remember?" Shane asked, and laughed. I remembered. We were always gonna compete, over who got the biggest piece. "Oh, yeah.." I said. I could suddenly feel, that I was very hungry. "Get a pencil, and I know a good game!" I said. Shane stood up, and went over to his desk. I took a piece, and started to eat. "Hey! You cheated!" Shane said, and smiled. "Nope.. I won!" I said. He almost ran over to me. Like, he thought i was gonna take all the pizza. When we had eaten it all, we went down on the road. "I've really missed you..." Shane said. "Why do you keep saying that? You've said it like... 20 times, or something... What's up?" I asked, and laughed. the air was warm. The best summer-night in Sligo. On a fence. With Shane. "Nothing! I mean... Look, there's something I need to talk to somebody about..." he said, and got all nervous. "Sure! You can always talk to me..." I said. "Okay... There's this girl, I think I have a crush on..." Shane said. I smiled at him, "Oh how cute! How is she?" I asked. "She's very sweet. And beautiful too! But there's a problem... I don't know if she likes me..." He said. I smiled. "Of course she does! Do you spend much time with her?" I asked. "Right now, I am. But she just arrived back in my life. She's been away..." he said, very quiet. "Oh! Well, where does she live?" I asked. Suddenly, Shane got mad. "You just don't get it, do you? Or are you fooling around? It's not funny, you know..." he said, and ran inside. I got scared! What was the boy talking about?! He met a girl... She just came back in..Oh my god! It was me! I ran home, and called Mark. "Mark, Mark! I got problems!" I quickly said. "Tell me..." he said. "There's a boy... He's having a crush on me, and I was acting very stupid... I think I hurt his feelings.." I said. "Yeah yeah... I know! Shane loves you!" Mark said. "What? How did you know?" I asked, and sat on the bed. "Shane just called, to hear, if you hated him.." he said, and took a deep breath, "The boy have loved you for nearly 5 years, Daniel. I think you two need to talk...". "But, Mark! What am I gonna do?" I asked. "Well, do you love him?" he asked. "No... I mean... I don't know... I mean... I've been away for four years now... I could fall in love with my father!" I said. I looked out the window. I could see Shane. He was sitting with the phone in his hands, and yelling. I couldn't hear him. "Daniel.. I don't believe you.. I think you do feel something for Shane, you're just afraid to admit it..." Mark said. "That's baloney, Mark! I have to go, bye!" I said, and hang up. Then I realised, that he was right. Mark was right. I did feel something for Shane, and I knew it. I looked out of the window again. I remembered, when we were young. We used to sit on the roof, and tell scary stories. It always ended, when Shane's mother yelled, that it was getting late. We always came to the really scary part, when Shane left. The ladder was still there. I made a decision, and went outside. I climbed the ladder, and finally I was up in the roof. I climbed to the top, and sat down. Man, it was beautiful! Just like I remembered it! All there was missing was Shane. "Hi...". It was Shane. He went all the way up, and sat down beside me. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry, I didn't think..." I said, but Shane held a finger for my mouth. "I do love you... When I saw you... My heart went crazy! All the old feelings came back, and I...I.. I fell in love!" he said. "Why?" I asked. As stupid as I could. "I don't know...It's just something in your smile, something in your eyes. It's every little bit of you, that makes me smile, that makes me happy. That makes me fall in love with you! Daniel, you gotta believe me! All I wanna do, is to wake up, and see the sunrise on your face!" he said. "Oh, Shane!" I whispered. "Don't talk..." he whispered back. "Come here..." he silently said, and stood up. We went over, to the end of the roof. If we took one more step, we would fall down. Shane turned against me. "I love you, Daniel..." he whispered. He placed his hands on my waist, and slowly pulled me against him. He closed his eyes, and moved his head close to mine. Then he kissed me. His warm lips, only made me want him more! He placed his one hand around my neck, and kissed me harder. God, I loved that man! Then he let go. "I love you too..." I whispered. We kissed again. At last, we sat down. "If you want me... As your boyfriend..." Shane started, but I interrupted, "I will! That's all I want!" I quickly said. "...It's gonna be hard! Very hard!" he said. "Shane... I thought you knew, that even if I had to ride a bike around Ireland, god forbid... Then I would do it for you Shane! I would do anything for you! And if that includes, to wait for you for a half a year, I would love to... As long, as I, in my heart and soul, know that you'll be back... I will do it!" I said, and kissed Shane. "I love you..." he whispered, and kissed me again. I leaned at his shoulder. I hoped that night was gonna last forever! "Is it possible to enjoy a moment so much, that you want it to last forever?" I whispered. "Yes. I feel like that everytime I'm with you..." Shane whispered back. "SHANE! COME DOWN!" Shane mother suddenly yelled. "I guess, that this time, we got trough the scary part..." he said, and kissed me. "Oh! Doesn't matter!" Shane’s mother yelled from Shane's garden. "I'm coming, mom!" Shane yelled back, and stood up. "I'll see you tomorrow? When we're doing Top Of The Pops..." he said, and gave me his hand, so I could get up. I took it, and he pulled me up. "Of course! I can't wait!" I said, and kissed him. He smiled, and climbed down the ladder. I was standing there, for a while - just smiling. Then it got cold, and I went down.

I woke up, in the middle of the night, by the phone. It kept ringing, so I took it. "Hello?" I asked. "Hello! This is doctor Nadir from Istanbul! I need to speak to a miss McRyan!" an old man said. "Okay...two seconds..." I mumbled, and went into my mother’s room. "Daniel, I know what happened with you and Shane..." she said. Why didn't she pick up the phone, when she already was up?? "Good... I love him... Doctor Nadir is on the phone..." I said, and smiled. "I know why... It's not good. I don't wanna talk to him.." she said. I looked at her. She was really sad. I just handed her the phone. she talked for a while, and didn't seem to happy. "Daniel, I need to talk to you..." My mother said, when she had hanged up. I sat down on the bed. "What, mom?" I asked. "You love Shane. Shane loves you. It's a problem!" she said. "No, mom! We talked about it! I can handle, that he's fa.." I started, but I realised, that it wasn’t what she meant. "It's hard to leave the person you love..." she said. "What do you mean, mom?" I asked, and got very nervous. "Daniel. There's a terrible virus in Turkey. The animals are dying like flies..." my mom said, and avoided eye contact. "You can't be serious!" I almost yelled. "Daniel, remember... The animals feed the men in Turkey. They'll all die, if..." she started, but I stood up, "I'M NOT LEAVING AGAIN!" I yelled. "Daniel, you have no choice..." she said. I burst into tears, and ran down the stairs. I ran outside, and suddenly, I saw Shane and Bryan sit on the railing. "Daniel?" Shane asked, when he saw me. I ran over to him, and hugged him, while crying. "They can't make me leave you!" I cried. "What are you talking about?" he nervously asked. I whipped my eyes, but the tears came bursting out. "My mother wants us to move to Turkey again!" I said, but could hardly speak the words. Shane got shocked. "No! No, you can't! You can't leave me!" he said, and hugged me. Suddenly, he couldn't hold back no longer, and also burst into tears. "Daniel?" my mother said. She stood beside me, in her pyjamas. I ignored her, and kept hugging Shane. "You have to say goodbye, Honey!" she said. I cried even more, and suddenly I turned against her, "WHY CAN'T YOU JUST DISAPEAR?!?! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO RUIN MY LIFE!! I LOVE SHANE, AND I'M NOT EVER SAYING GOODBYE TO HIM!!" I screamed. Shane grabbed me, and pulled me near him. He hugged me hard. "Daniel... Remember...I'll do anything for you! And if that includes, to wait for you for a half a year - even four, I would love to... As long, as I, in my heart and soul, know that you'll be back... I will do it!" he said silently, "...Cause I love you!" he cried. "Shane, I'm so sorry! But it's necessary..." my mother said. "Mrs. McRyan... If this is true love - which it is... I can survive this!" Shane cried, and grabbed my hair. He kissed me. "Shane, no... Don't say goodbye..." I cried. "I wont say goodbye... Cause we'll see each other again! I promise!" Shane cried. "I love you.." I whispered, with pain in every word. "I love you too..." Shane cried. He let go of me. I looked him in his red eyes. "I'll come out, before we leave..." I sobbed. Shane nodded, and tried to keep the rest of his tears back. Right before I entered the front door, I saw Shane hugging Bryan, who also cried. I didn't say a word to my mom; I just went up to pack!

"Daniel, the cap is waiting..." my mom said, and came into my room. I was crying on my suitcases. "Honey... We'll get back... When the virus is all cleared up..." she started to say, but yet, I interrupted her, "Then what? How long will that take?" I asked. "Some years.... But not if we're lucky!" she said. I just shook my head. I went with her down. There was a cap in front of the house. Shane was still crying, but more silent. "Go say goodbye... Be here in five minutes!" my mother said. I slowly walked over to Shane. He hugged me. "Daniel.." he whispered, and started to cry again. I could feel his breath on my neck. "Stay with me, my love..." he cried. I cried even more. "That's the only place I wanna be!" I cried. "Oh please... God, why are you doing this to me?" Shane cried. "I'll be back..." I cried. "I need to talk to you in private...." Shane said, and gave me a fake smile. I nodded, and walked with him over to the little hole, behind his house. There was only a meter, between the house wall, and the railing-wall. Suddenly, Shane pushed me up against the house-wall. He leaded his hand up to my cheek, and removed a hair-lock. "God, I love you..." he whispered. Then he kissed me. He kissed me for very long. Then he removed his face. "When you'll be back... I wanna spend forever with you..." he whispered. The tears started to run down my cheeks again. He slowly kissed them away. Each and everyone. "DANIEL!! WE GOTTA HURRY!" my mother yelled. Shane quickly kissed me again. "Shane.. Do me one favour? Don't follow me to the airport... I can't stand to say goodbye..." I cried. He kissed me. "I promise.." he said. I hugged him, and walked with him to the cap. He kissed me gentle on the neck. I smiled at him, but the tears were still running down my cheeks. Bryan came over, and gave me a hug to. He had also cried a bit. "I'll always love you..." Shane whispered, while I went into the cap. I cried, while I waved goodbye to Shane and Bryan. "He didn't come with you?" my mother asked, when we had left the road. "I asked him not to..." I sobbed. "Well, if he loves you, he'll come!" she said. I didn't answer her, cause I knew she was right. But what if he didn't show up??

"Daniel, my dear... We have to get in the plane now..." my mother said. I looked around, but still no sign of Shane. I nodded, and walked with my mom into the flight. When we sat down, she said, "It's a shame, you couldn’t live with your father! But he has Pamela..." she said. I almost screamed! "No, he doesn't! She moved!!" I yelled. "Well, to bad... You could have stayed with him..." she said, and read a magazine. The flight hadn't taken off yet, so I quickly removed my belt. "What are you doing?" she asked. I gave her quick kiss on the cheek. "Goodbye mom!" I said, and ran out of the plane, just as it was about to take of. "Daniel, come back!" my mother yelled, but I just ran into the airport again. I watched the plane take of. I turned around, and realised, that I couldn’t get home. I sat down and almost started to cry. "Shane, hurry!" I suddenly heard Bryan yell. I looked up, and saw Shane and Bryan stand with their hands on the window. "Damn, she's gone..." Shane mumbled. "Easy, Shane! She'll be back." Bryan said, when Shane almost started to cry. I stood up, and walked over to them. Bryan saw me, and started smiling. Shane didn't see me. "Shane, I forgot to tell you... I love you!" I said. Shane quickly turned around. "Oh my god!" he yelled, and hugged me. He lifted me up, and kissed me. "What are you doing here?? Is the plane late?" he asked. "No, it's already left!" I said, and laughed. "You're staying?!" Shane yelled, so the whole airport looked at us. "Yep! I'm staying with my father!" I said. Shane kissed me again and again and again. "God, I love you! I love you, Daniel, I love you more than anything!" he almost yelled. I went with them home, and borrowed his phone. I called my father, who was more than happy to could help me!

"I've missed you..." Shane said, and kissed me. We were sitting on his bed. "Shane, I was only gone for ten minutes!" I laughed. "It felt like ten hours..." he whispered and kissed me again. He slowly laid me down, while kissing me. He slowly kissed my neck, and whispered in my ears. Suddenly his mobile rang. He quickly stopped, and took his mobile. "Hello?" He said. Suddenly his eyes got bigger and bigger. He looked at his watch. "Fuck! I'll be right there!" he said, and put on his jacket. "We were supposed to be at the airport ten minutes ago!" he almost yelled. I quickly stood up, and put on my jacket to. We took a cap, to the airport, and two hours after, we were in the TOTP-studio.

"And here comes the worlds biggest boyband ever! They made a big hit, with songs like 'Fool again', 'My love' and 'Uptown Girl'! And here they are, with the new hit-single "World Of Our Own! WESTLIFE!" the host yelled. The music started, and the boys were at the stage. They started to dance and sing, and I clapped among the audience. Some girls were crying, and reaching for their stars. Shane smiled to me, and winked. The girl next to me went crazy. When they were about to finish, I went backstage. "Hey, what time is it?" some guy asked. For a minute, I thought I'd seen him before, but I pushed that thought away. "What about asking me in a nice way?" I said. The guy had dark hair and dark eyes. He was a bit old, and in a suit. "Oh, sorry, my little sex-bomb!" the guy said, and smiled. I quickly slapped him, "Fuck off!" I yelled. The guy looked like he'd seen a ghost. "You don't hit me!" he said. "Well, another time, you can ask in a nice way, okay?" I asked, and left. The guy was still shocked. I looked back at him, and suddenly I bombed into a girl. She was black, and war a lot of make-up. "Did you just slap Robbie Williams?!" she asked, and grabbed my shoulders. "Uhm... Who?" I asked. "You just slapped Robbie Williams!" she yelled, and smiled. "I've been wanting to do that all night..." she mumbled, and let go of me. I looked her in the eyes. "I'm Alicia! Alicia Keys!" she said, and shook my hand. "And you are?" she asked. "My name is Daniel! I'm Shane's girlfriend!" I said, and smiled. "Shane from Westlife? You date Shane from Westlife, and you don't know who Robbie Williams is?!" she asked. I shook my head. "Have you been, like, dead in five years, or something?" she asked. I smiled. "Ha ha, kinda... Only four years!" I said. She laughed. A tall guy, came walking over to her, and took her away. "I'm going on stage! Nice to meet you!" she yelled, right before she walked out on stage. "Sweetie? What have you been doing?". I turned around, and there was Shane. I gave him a big kiss. "What? I was talking to a girl... Alicia!" I said. Shane smiled, "And before that?" he asked, and smiled. I smiled back, "I slapped a guy called Robbie Williams!" I proudly said, "He called me a sex-bomb!" I added. Shane's face changed from 'happy' to 'serious' and 'mad', "YOU WHAT?! DO you know who he is?!" Shane yelled. "No! If I knew, I wouldn't have slapped him!" I complained. Shane's face changed again. He smiled. "That's why I love you..." he said, and kissed me. "You better watch out... She might hurt you!" somebody said. I looked up, and saw Robbie Williams walk past me. "Phew! He's not mad!" Shane said. "Go Daniel, go Daniel!", I heard Mark and Kian sing. They gave me a hug, and smiled. "Now, remember our little bet?" Kian asked. To be honest, I couldn't remember. "Uhm..." I said. "You said you would last for about 7 hours..." Kian said, and smiled. "Oh, the drinking-stuff?" I asked, and laughed, "Of course I remember! I'll beat you!" I said.

"KIAN! KIAN! KIAN!" I yelled. It was 4am, and we'd been drinking for a very long time. Kian was stripping on the table, while tons of famous girls watched. I was clapping among them. Kian stripped down to his shorts, and then drank another beer. "Let's... Sing a song!" he said. He was drunk as hell, but so was I. "Why not?" I asked, and laughed. Kian walked with me up on stage, and turned on the mic. "Hello crowd... We're gonna sing... We're drunk as hell.. This girl is gonna start... She's better then Britney Spears!" Kian said, but could hardly say anything, because he was so drunk. I took the mic, and started to sing, "We are family...We are all my sisters and me..." I sang. It sounded terrible, but the crowd laughed and clapped. They were just as drunk. "Let's talk about sex, baby, let's talk about you and me, let's talk about...all the small things...." I sang, but handed the mic to Kian. "I've got the blues...Oh baby, I got the blues...." he started to sing. I walked down from the stage, and over to Shane. On my way, I found a towel. I put it around my head. Shane was sitting in the bar, and laughing at Kian. I sat on his lap. "Hi...Wanna take a bath?" I asked, and laughed. I pretended to dry my hair. "Daniel, I think you gotta go home!" Shane laughed. "No! I'm never going home!" I laughed. I went away from Shane, and over to a guy. "Hi! Wanna take a bath?" I asked. Then I kissed him. I kissed him a lot.

"Oh my head!" I complained. I tried to open my eyes, but I could hardly open the one. I saw Shane. "You shouldn't have done it..." he slowly said. "I know... I can't take to be so drunk..." I said, and tried to sit up in the bed. I was in Shane's room, and war the same clothes as the day before. "I don't mean the drinking! I mean Duncan!" he almost yelled. "AUCH!" I mumbled, when my head started to feel like a bomb. "I don't care!" he said. "Who's Duncan?" I asked. "You know that! The guy you almost raped last night!" Shane yelled. I closed my eyes. I felt like there were 1000 drumsticks, beating against my brain. "I don't know what you're talking about..." I whispered. "I thought you loved me..." he said, and walked out of the room. I lie down, and fell asleep again.

When I woke up, I felt much better. I went down, and drank some coffee, from Shane's kitchen. When I was done, my headache was over. I remembered, that I'd kissed a guy the night before. But I couldn't remember more. "Damn..." I whispered, and walked out, to find Shane. I found him sitting on my roof. I climbed the ladder, and sat down beside him. He'd been crying. "Why?" he asked. "I was drunk... I couldn't help myself... I don't even know his name.. I can't remember his face... I can't remember anything..." I almost whispered. "I got hurt, Daniel... I felt jealous, mad and sad at the same time. After you kissed him, I made Bryan take you home. We laid you in my bed, and I watched you sleep. I prayed to god, that you never would do that to me again.." Shane said. Suddenly, we heard a big bang. We looked down, and saw Bryan and Mark stand with the ladder. "Now, you guys are gonna work things out! You're not coming down, until you're friends again!" Mark yelled. "Okay!" I yelled back. The two guys, looked very proud. "They don't know about the ladder behind the house, do they?" I asked. Shane shook his head, and laughed. He kissed me. "How can I make sure, you don't do that again?" he asked. "You could tie me to the bed..." I said, and smiled. "That could be a way...But I have another idea..." he said, and stood up. He pulled me up, and took my hands. I looked him in his nice brown eyes. "I love you Daniel... And I wanna spend forever with you..." he said, and suddenly, he went down on one knee. I got scared. Shane pulled out a little silver-ring from his pocket. "Do you wanna spend forever with me?" he asked, and took my finger. He slowly brought the ring on. I got so stunned, that I almost forgot to answer. "Yes! Yes, Shane, I wanna spend forever with you!" I yelled, and pulled him up, and kissed him. I kept kissing him. "WAAAYYYHHEEE!!" somebody yelled from the ground. We looked down, and saw Bryan, Kian, Nicky and Mark. They were clapping. Shane kissed me. "I never knew, this would really happen... It's always been a dream for me... And now it's real..." he said, and smiled. I kissed him. "This is a dream come true..." I said. I walked with Shane, over to the ladder behind the house. When we came over to the guys, they were looking up on the roof, trying to see us. Mark suddenly saw us, and ran over to hug us. The rest of the guys hugged us too. That night we had a party, but with NO alcohol! I finally found true love...
