Fans meetings with the lads... By Michelle, wpsc23049@cableinet.co.uk It was November 5th 1999 and today was the most exciting day of my whole life.It was the day that i was going to go and meet Westlife and i couldn't wait!!!I couldn't concentrate at school and kept on counting down the hours until 3.05pm when we finished.I never thought that that bell would ring and once it did i shot out of school and made my way home.Once i got home,my dad asked if i was ready to go to the Big W where Westlife were signing copies of their album Westlife.I ran upstairs and grabbed my album and jumped in the car.I had already taped the album for the car and it was on play while we were making our way to the Big W.We missed the turning into the Big W and had to carry on driving until we had to turn around.We eventually made it into the car park and headed for the Big W. Once we arrived,the security guy at the main entrance asked if i was here to see Westlife and i said yes and he told me to carry on walking until i came to the back of the cue.I was quite far at the back but it wasn't as far as some of the other girls that came in behind me about 10 minutes later.Everyone seemed to be coming just to meet Westlife and i was hoping that i was going to be lucky enough to meet them.There was these two windows inside the Big W where the staff room was and the stock cupboards and everytime a member of Westlife walked past everyone was screaming.Bryan and Shane were giving each other collie buckys and kept on walking past the window which made the crowd go mental.Westlife weren't due to come and start signing till 5pm and it was only 4.05.I was so nervous.Eventually,5pm came and Westlife came down and sat behind the table ready to start the signing.I didn't think i'd have any chance of meeting them becoz i was so far back and loads of people weren't allowed in becoz of fire risks so they were left outside.I felt relieved that i was inside and might have a chance to meet them.The crowd started moving quicker but i was still quite far back.Then a while before we got to meet them,we were told that they had stopped signing autographs and were only meeting fans quickly before leaving and that they wouldn't get to meet everyone.As i was coming closer to meeting them,i started shaking and hoped that i got to meet them.I was let through in the next 6 people and had to go through loads of barriers to meet them.By this time i was shaking so badly i thought i was going to faint.Then,i got let through and Mark was the first one i met and he gave me a kiss.I was so shocked!Shane was the second member i met and he asked how i was and gave me a kiss.I couldn't believe i was actually standing next to Westlife.I met Nicky third and he apoligised to me for not getting the album signrd and i said it was ok and then he gave me a kiss.I couldn't hold back anymore and started crying.When i reached Kian he asked if i was ok and gave me a kiss and a cuddle.I told him he was my favourite member and he said thank you and i was still cuddling him.I didn't want to let go becoz it all felt like a big dream and i kept thinking i was going to wake up.Bryan was the last person i had met and he gave me a kiss.I took loads of photos but only the one of Kian turned out!!After meeting them it all sunk in and they were all so nice and down to earth.When i left aome of the girls that were outside gave me daggers and i just didn't care!!I had met my all time fave group and it didn't feel real!!It was real and i still remember it like it was yesterday!!! >> Back to main Fan Encounters page |
