Fans meetings with the lads... By Clare, Claremcfad2000@aol.com All me and my two mates ( Laura & Leanne) wanted was to meet westlife, and in March 2001 we managed to find out what hotel they were staying in in Birmingham so we stayed outside the hotel all day on saturday 3rd March and sunday 4th March, we didn't really get to meet any of them properly so we decided that the only way we were going to meet them was to stop in the same hotel as them when they came back to Birmingham in April. It cost us £110.00 each to stay one night but we were willing to pay anything. The day came that we were going to stop in the hotel we were all really scared because we had payed all that money to stay there and we had found out that on that day they were doing a webchat, so ofcourse we thought they would be leaving the hotel. Well luckily they were doing the webchat in the hotel which was brilliant, we found out what floor they would be on so we went upto that floor and just sat by the lifts. Everytime the lift doors opened we looked up hoping it would be one of the gorgeous five but it never was, then this one time the doors opened and out walked Bryan i couldn't believe it and i tell you now it is a good job i was sitting down. After Bryan had walked past i looked at Laura and she was looking wide mouthed at something so i turned round to have a look and there was standing Shane i couldn't believe it. They both walked through some double doors but never closed the doors behind them, so we could see all 5 of them keep walking past the doors it was brilliant!!! Bryan walked past the doors with a glass of water he looked at me and smiled and i just couldn't believe it. Then we could hear someone talking and it was a voice that you can tell a mile off, it was Nicky and of course Leanne loves Nicky so when she heard his voice she just burst into tears. e were then moved from that floor so we got in the lift and went upto our floor, we sat in our room amazed at the fact that we had just seen westlife!!! We decided that it was abit boring just sat in the room so we decided to go for a wonder around the hotel, on our travels we bumped into Trevor (tour bus driver), Anto Byrne and Fran. Then it was getting near the time where the band have to leave for the NEC so we decided to go down to reception ready. There were loads of people down there and Fran was standing by the lifts ready, the lift doors opened and out walked Nicky and Georgina so i turned to Leanne and told her that Nicky was over there but i am always saying that to her to try and trick her so she didn't believe me so i hd to physically turn her head and of course she started to cry again. After Nicky and Georgina had left the building Fran moved everyone so we were standing in a sort of line by reception. All the others came out all i remember is Bryan smiling at me and Laura shouting "i love you Shane" and he turned round and put his thumb up at her. So they had left the building so we went upto our room and had some tea then got ready for when they had to come back. The time went really slow we went for a tour around the hotel, we had a drink in the drawing room and we stood looking out the windows for ages. When 10.30 came we decided to go downstairs ready for when they came back so we sat in the drawing room with Leannes mom. We saw the tour bus coming round the island so we ran over to the doors ready to see them come in, it was about 11.30 and there were still loads of fans outside the hotel too. Mark came in first and stopped to sign a few things but Paul was just pushing him, then Shane and Bryan were rushed right through to the lifts and then Nicky and Kian were rushed to the lifts, so i grabbed Leanne and Laura and we ran up the steps to their floor, when we got there the lift doors were just opening so we were just in time, but as soon as Paul saw us he started yelling at us and he pushed us into the lift!!! But the lift took us up instead of down so we got out of that lift and got in another one and pressed the button for it to go down, but it stopped on westlifes floor and standing outside the lift was Paul and he thought we were just playing about in the lift so he got in the lift with us waited till the doors had closed and then he really started to shout at us. Hr made us cry so when we got to the floor that we wanted to get to we ran out the lift and ran straight to Leannes mom, she asked us what was wrong and when we explained she stormed off. About 10 minutes later she came back and she also bought Paul with her, he came over to us and apolagised and explained to us that he has to be rough because it is his job, so to make it upto us he gave us backstage passes for Thursday April 19th and it was brilliant i had a kiss off Bryan, Laura had a kiss of Shane and Leanne had a kiss off Nicky. So in the end it was well worth been shouted at by Paul although at the time it was very very scary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >> Back to main Fan Encounters page |
